Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy exploded at a local reporter with ABC’s Philadelphia affiliate on Monday after he abruptly ended a brief interview about an antisemitic sign found at his company’s bar.

At the end of a clip he shared on X, he raged that he hated the media and said, “I forgot how much I hate fucking journalists.”

Portnoy, who is Jewish, condemned a sign found at Barstool Sansom Street in Philadelphia a day ealrier that read “F*ck the Jews.”

Sunday afternoon, Portnoy was adamant that no one at Barstool was responsible for the sign, and he was investigating how it appeared in the bar’s restroom. He also said he had fired people over it.

In the video posted to his X account Monday, Portnoy railed against WPVI-TV and what he called a media “bait and switch.” According to Portnoy, ABC’s Philadelphia station initially scheduled an interview with one reporter, but sent a different one to conduct the conversation.

That reporter then, according to him, blamed Barstool Sports for the sign.

“They begged me to do an interview,” Portnoy said. “They give me the reporter’s name, and then they do a bait and switch, and a new reporter shows up.”

Portnoy claimed the conversation began as a standard interview about the sign at the bar, before he came under scrutiny.

“She shifts, and then, she does what a media scumbag does,” he said. “She pulls a quote out of her ass from like – some professor…. It’s like, ‘Barstool Sports creates a culture of harassment,’ and that basically I’m responsible for this happening at my own bar.”

In a short clip shared from his side of the interview, Portnoy showed himself going back and forth with the unnamed reporter. He asked her, “Who’s creating more hate right now in the world? Barstool Sports and White men, or college campuses?”

Portnoy ultimately cut the interview short when the reporter declined to answer his questions and said she was running the interview.

He then raged about her to his followers.

“This piece of shit. ABC, the person who set it up, gave me one reporter, bait and switch to the other,” he said. “Fuck ABC! Fuck ABC! …I forgot how much I hate fucking journalists. This fucking piece of shit!”

According to WPVI-TV, a Temple University student has been suspended from school for allegedly placing the sign.
