GOP Rep. Louie Gohmert Ends Interview With Lou Dobbs by Saying ‘It’s Not Anti-Semitic to Criticize Soros’
Days after Lou Dobbs‘ Fox Business Network show came under scrutiny for comments made by one of his guests about George Soros, Congressman Louie Gohmert made a point of ending his interview with Dobbs with a statement about Soros.
Gohmert first defended President Donald Trump and slammed Speaker Paul Ryan on the issue of birthright citizenship, before the two men discussed the migrant caravan and the troops going to the border.
But towards the end of the segment, as Dobbs was wrapping things up, Gohmert said this:
“It’s not anti-Semitic to criticize Soros and Israel issued a statement a year ago saying just that.”
Dobbs reacted by dryly saying, “I’m certainly glad that I didn’t just break away there.”
Just as a reminder, Judicial Watch’s Chris Farrell claimed to Dobbs last week the migrant caravan is being funded by the “Soros-occupied State Department.”
A rerun of the episode aired this past Saturday, after the horrific synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh. The gunman posted online that Jews were helping people in the caravans.
After the clip of Farrell garnered much online criticism, Fox Business said in a statement, “We condemn the rhetoric by the guest on Lou Dobbs Tonight. This episode was a repeat which has now been pulled from all future airings.”
In a recent Fox News interview about the caravan, Gohmert said, “I can’t help but think the Democrats––perhaps Soros, others––may be funding this, thinking it’s going to help them.”
