The Republican National Convention will reach it zenith on Thursday, culminating with President Donald Trump’s official acceptance speech, which will be given, in an unprecedented step, from the South Lawn of the White House.
The fourth and final night of the convention comes amid several major stories across the country, including the aftermath of Hurricane Laura, racial unrest in cities across the country after the shooting of Jacob Blake, and the ongoing short-term strikes in professional sports in solidarity with Black Lives Matter.
The last night of the virtual convention will feature speeches from Trump’s daughter and White House adviser Ivanka Trump, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, and Trump’s personal lawyer, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
