Mediaite founding editor Colby Hall spoke to our sister network Law & Crime about Donald Trump Jr.‘s latest comments attacking the Mueller probe.

In a new daily segment — we’re calling it Law & Mediaite — Hall discussed Don Jr. dismissing Chris Christie‘s warning that the Souther District of New York investigation is more dangerous to President Donald Trump than Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

“There are no actual crimes,” Don Jr. responded on Fox & Friends Monday morning. “There is only things that people did in past lives. In 2006 before we even thought we’d ever get into this crazy world.”

“That’s not exactly right,” Hall said on Law & Mediaite. “There’s a series of individuals that were attached to the Trump campaign who were basically lying to federal authorities about their involvement in this. So it still raises the very obvious question: why were all these people so close to the Trump campaign lying about their contacts with Russia?”

“Was it just a coincidence?” Hall asked. “Or was there something more sinister afoot? And that’s hopefully what we’ll find out in the next few weeks.”

Hall noted that with the president on a foreign trip to Vietnam, it’s unlikely the Mueller report will come out in February, as some reports had suggested. The Mediaite editor also predicted “everyone will be disappointed” by the special counsel’s findings, given high expectations on all sides.
