WATCH LIVE: New Years Eve Times Square Ball Drop and Performances Online
One of the biggest parties in the world is well underway.
A rainy evening is doing little to dampen spirits in New York City. Hundreds of thousands of revelers are gathered in Times Square set to bid goodbye to 2018, and welcome in 2019.
The evening’s festivities include performances from alt-pop group Lovelytheband, and pop star Bebe Rexha — who will perform John Lennon‘s Imagine moments before midnight.
The highlight, of course, will be the dropping of the ball as the clock strikes midnight. This year’s event is slated to honor journalists — with the Committee to Protect Journalists having been designated as the official charity of the evening.
Several journalists will appear on stage to push the button which lowers the ball at 11:59. ABC correspondent Martha Raddatz, NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt, CNN New Day host Alisyn Camerota, and Fox News anchor Jon Scott are among those TV news personalities who will participate. Also set to appear, Karen Attiah of the Washington Post — who was the editor for slain journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Coverage from New York begins at 6:00 p.m. ET and runs until shortly after the ball drop at midnight. Watch above, via the official Times Square website.
