Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) joined the growing calls to reimagine and replace Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Speaking at an immigration rally in Boston on Saturday afternoon, Warren told demonstrators what the current immigration situation is “ugly” and “wrong.”
“This is ugly, this is wrong, and this is not the way to run our country,” Warren said. “The President’s deeply immoral actions have made it obvious we need to rebuild our immigration system from top to bottom starting by replacing ICE with something that reflects our morality and values.”
She added: “This moment is a moral crisis for our country.”
Warren is one of a growing number of lawmakers calling for ICE to be replaced or reformed, starting with Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) who claimed ICE has become a “deportation force.”
“I believe that it has become a deportation force. And I think you should separate out the criminal justice from the immigration issues,” the Senator said on CNN earlier this week. “I think you should reimagine ICE under a new agency, with a very different mission, and take those two missions out. So we believe that we should protect families that need our help, and that is not what ICE is doing today.”

Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) have also spoken out against ICE and called for the agency to be reformed, but not abolished entirely.
