Dershowitz Calls for Rod Rosenstein Be Replaced on Mueller Probe: ‘He is Disqualified’
Retired Harvard Law School professor Alan Dershowitz had stern words for Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein over his handling of the Trump-Russia investigation on Fox & Friends:
Dershowitz said on the show Saturday morning that it was surprising that Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, was still supervising special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia.
The retired professor’s contention was stemmed from a recent report that Rosenstein was “shaken” and felt “used” by Trump to explain the firing of former FBI director James Comey.
“More and more information is coming out about his conflict of interest,” Dershowitz said. “He is a central witness in this entire obstruction of justice, if it involves the firing of Comey. How can he still stay on the case? I wish they would focus much more on that because he is recused. He is disqualified. He ought to be replaced.”
Dershowitz also responded to Rep. Trey Gowdy‘s demand of Rosenstein that the Justice Department wrap up the special counsel investigation .
“Well, these kind of special counsel investigations almost always take a long time. That’s one of the problems with having a special counsel,” he said, pointing to how long the Clinton and Iran Contra probes took.
