CNN’s Harry Enten didn’t sugarcoat anything as he ran through polling on Joe Biden’s economy and assessed that the situation looks bleak for the president.

Enten joined Ana Cabrera on Thursday to discuss the network’s new polling which finds Americans are overwhelmingly pessimistic about the economy. CNN was running a chyron saying, “most Americans have dismal view of U.S. economy,” but Enten added, “I was going to use the word ‘awful'” as his choice of descriptors.

“Bad, bad, bad,” Enten repeated as he looked at the 77 percent of people polled by CNN who think poorly of America’s current economic conditions. “You’ve got to go all the way back to 2012 to see numbers that bad. And it’s not much of a surprise if you ask folks what’s the most important problem facing the country right now. What is the top issue? The economy.”

Enten pointed out that the economy is the top concern among a litany of demographics polled, and when asked who is being blamed for the situation, he answered that most of America blames “the Democrats.”

“They blame Biden, but they really blame inflation. That’s really what’s cooking here,” he said. “Eighty-one percent say too little [is being done] on inflation…I, truthfully, look at polling data all day. You just never see that many Americans agreeing on something. Eight-one percent too little. Awful number.”

Enten concluded by saying most Americans don’t think Biden is doing enough to combat inflation, “and this, to me, is the most worrying sign if you’re a Democrat.” He pointed out the poll found that 55 percent of people think Biden’s policies worsened the economy, and another 26 percent say his policies have had no effect.

“So not only do they think the economy’s bad,” Enten concluded, “they think Biden’s contributing to the bad economy. Bad numbers.”

Enten’s data breakdown comes while Biden and the Democratic Party are facing a grim outlook for the midterm elections. Democratic strategists have expressed concerns that the party is headed for a slaughter in November.
