New Trump Accuser Gives Emotional Interview: His Access Hollywood Comments ‘Exactly What He Did to Me’
Alva Johnson, who is suing President Donald Trump for an alleged nonconsensual kiss that took place during her work on his 2016 campaign, broke down in tears while discussing the infamous Access Hollywood on MSNBC tonight, saying it was “exactly what he did to me.”
“When I heard audio [of the tape], I was like screaming in my car,” Johnson told MSNBC host Chris Hayes tonight. “I’m like oh my god, that’s exactly what he did to me. He literally described exactly what he did to me, minus the grab the ‘P.'”
Through tears, she continued by paraphrasing the comments Trump made to Billy Bush, in which he said, “I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait… Grab ’em by the pussy. You can do anything.”
Johnson said the leaking of those comments “solved” her questions about the incident that she claims occurred on a campaign RV.
“You kind of second guess and it solved every question I had about the intention. It solved every question about intention,” she said. “About the amount of inappropriateness that it was and I never went back to work.”
The former Trump campaign staffer also gave a lengthy, detailed description of the alleged kiss:
“I wasn’t close to him and I was wearing the baseball cap, but he had to pass me on his way exiting the RV. As he passed me, I said, ‘You go and do a good job, you kick ass, because I’ve been away from my family for a long time.’ And he stopped and he grabs my hind and he starts looking at me… He said, ‘I’m going to do a job, I’m not going to let you down. I know you’ve been away from your family.’ And he’s holding my hand, holding my hand, and then he starts coming towards me and so he’s still holding my hand, and I just had a lot of internal dialogue — like is he going to hug me? And then he keeps coming closer and I’m like ok is he going to hug and then I’m like oh my god I think he’s gonna kiss me, ’cause he was coming directly for my face. I mean, this is with the bill of the baseball cap. And when I realize he’s going to kiss my lips, I turn my mouth, he caught me right in the corner of my mouth and I was just kind of frozen. I didn’t know how to process it. I knew it was inappropriate because I worked in human resources. So I knew it was completely inappropriate, it was gross and creepy. Like I can sometimes still see those lips which — and so he walked out.”
Later in the interview, Johnson broke down again while describing the pressure she faced dealing with the Trump campaign’s nondisclosure agreement.
“I felt my vocal cords had been clipped for years. You’re not supposed to criticize him, criticize the family. You’re not supposed to criticize the campaign, you cannot criticize his business. It’s used as a weapon,” she said.
“You have [Trump] mocking women with the #MeToo movement, making fun of them and I’m sitting there and I’m like this is exactly what you did to me and I don’t want to keep my mouth shut,” Johnson continued. “I want my voice back. I want my freedom to speak freely without the fear or at least without the people surrounding me that will help me fight this.”
Johnson’s lawsuit alleges Trump “violated norms of decency and privacy by kissing Ms. Johnson on the lips without her consent in the middle of a Florida work event and in front of numerous other Campaign officials.”
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders responded by calling the calims “absurd on its face” and said they have been “directly contradicted by multiple highly credible eyewitness accounts,” as Pam Bondi — who Johnson noted was there — denied the incident happened.
