Trump: SCOTUS Fight Will Probably Be ‘Vicious’ Because All Democrats Do Is ‘Obstruct and Resist’
Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo opened her interview with President Donald Trump by asking about the upcoming Supreme Court fight.
The President began by praising retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy as a “great gentleman,” saying he “ended up being a little more neutral than a lot of people would have preferred.”
Bartiromo asked, “Are you going to ask your nominees beforehand how they might vote on Roe v. Wade?”
“Well, that’s a big one. And probably not,” he responded, “They are all saying, ‘Don’t do that. You don’t do that. You shouldn’t do that.’ But I’m putting conservative people on.”
Trump didn’t get much more specific on the abortion question, but when Bartiromo asked him about the impending political fight, he teed off on the Democrats a bit:
“I think we’re going to have support from Democrats, frankly. I think––if it’s the right person, I’m going to pick the right person, I’m going to pick somebody that’s outstanding. And everybody on that list is outstanding, but I’m going to pick somebody who is outstanding… It’s probably going to be vicious because the other side––all they can do is obstruct and resist. You know, the whole thing is resist. But––and maybe someday we’ll be able to get along with the other side. I don’t know. But right now it’s only resist. That’s all they want to do is stop things from happening. So they’re going to try very hard, but I think it’s going to go actually very quickly if I pick the right person.”
