Fox News Reports on ‘Subdued’ Scene at Trump Arraignment: ‘Only a Handful of Supporters’
Fox News National Correspondent Griff Jenkins remarked on how sparse the turnout was at the federal courthouse as former President Donald Trump made his way to Washington, D.C. for his arraignment on four federal charges related to Jan. 6.
“Now, out here, obviously, security is tight,” Jenkins said from the courthouse. “U.S. Marshals have the entire courthouse fenced off. We are seeing a lot of media, as you might imagine. Interestingly, though, only a handful of supporters, some pro-Trump, some anti-Trump, but it is a much more subdued scenario than what we saw when we were in Miami in June when Trump was arraigned on the alleged mishandling of classified documents. Although, we have a few more hours as things get near to that court appearance.”
Earlier, Jenkins broke down how the day was expected to progress.
“Once he gets here at 4 p.m. to go inside for that, let’s talk a little about what’s going to happen,” Jenkins said. “He is going to go before a magistrate judge, not the judge that will preside over his trial, but a magistrate judge for that initial appearance, and Fox News confirms, being told by the court, this actually will be an arraignment. We do expect the former president to plead not guilty to the four charges, but already, as you mentioned in that intro, he is worried about getting a fair trial.”
Jenkins then read a post from Trump’s Truth Social account.
“Here’s what he wrote last night on Truth Social. Quote, ‘the latest fake case brought by crooked Joe Biden and deranged Jack Smith will hopefully be moved to an impartial venue such as the politically unbiased nearby state of West Virginia. Impossible to get a fair trial in Washington, D.C.'”
Trump faces four federal charges of conspiracy and obstruction for trying to subvert the 2020 election results.

Pence Fundraising Off Trump Calling Him ‘Too Honest’ To Overturn 2020 Election

Former Vice President Mike Pence’s 2024 campaign began selling merchandise Thursday quoting his former boss, then President Donald Trump, telling Pence he was “too honest” when refusing to overturn the 2020 election.
Pence dropped his new merchandise, t-shirts and hats, on the heels of Trump’s third indictment this week, a four-count filing related to Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election and remain in office.
NEW: Mike Pence selling “TOO HONEST” merch in wake of Trump indictment
According to the Special Counsel, Trump called Pence on New Year’s Day in 2021 and “berated him.” When Pence said he didn’t have the authority to return or reject votes, Trump told him, “You’re too honest.” pic.twitter.com/srGkmJWuMG

The “too honest” quote from Trump is included in the indictment itself. The indictment recounts a New Year’s Day 2021 call between Trump and Pence in which the president “berated [Pence] because he had learned that the Vice President had opposed a lawsuit seeking a judicial decision that, at the certification, the Vice President had the authority to reject or return votes to the states under the Constitution.”
According to the indictment, Pence replied that “he thought there was no constitutional basis for such authority and that it was improper,” and Trump shot back, “You’re too honest.”
Pence pulled no punches in recounting Trump’s efforts to pressure him to overturn the election during a Fox News interview on Wednesday.
“The American people deserve to know that President Trump and his advisors didn’t just ask me to pause. They asked me to reject votes, return votes, essentially to overturn the election and to keep faith with the oath that I made to the American people and to Almighty God, I rejected that out of hand,” Pence said.
Pence has yet to meet the criteria needed to be on the stage at the first GOP debate later in the month.
“Pence and his campaign told donors on a Wednesday Zoom call that he had more than 30,000 unique donors and expected to clear the 40,000 unique donor threshold that would punch his ticket for the party’s first debate sometime next week,” reported NBC News.
“Perhaps this new merch will be what puts us over the 40,000 donor threshold even earlier than we expected,” the campaign said in a statement to NBC.

If you’re grossed out by the idea that you might be bitten by a tick this summer (chances are good, to be honest), now is the time to get yourself a bottle of permethrin spray. Permethrin-treating your shoes is one of the simplest ways to set up a barrier between hungry ticks and your delicious, blood-filled flesh.

All day, you look at screens, from the moment your alarm clock goes off on your phone to the minute you set it again before bed—and all the moments in between. (You’re doing it right now.) Whether you’re working or trying to relax, though, all that screen-staring isn’t great for your eyes. It causes the eyes to work…

Trump Dined With Top Fox News Executives Pushing Him to Join Debate Moments After Learning of Third Indictment: NYT

After learning he would face yet another criminal indictment, Former President Donald Trump dined with top Fox News executive at his club in Bedminster, New Jersey as they urged him to take part in the upcoming GOP primary debate on the network later this month, according to New York Times.
Jonathan Swan and Maggie Haberman reported Wednesday that, moments after Trump learned he would be indicted for his efforts to overturn the election on January 6th, he met with Fox News president Jay Wallace and chief executive Suzanne Scott for dinner.
The executives lobbied the former president to appear on the channel’s GOP primary debate scheduled for August 23rd, appealing to his vanity by saying it’s an opportunity to “show off,” the Times reported.
Trump has stated publicly that he may not attend the debate in Milwaukee or the second event planned at the Reagan Presidential Library in California. However, he told the network executives he was still open to the idea.
The dinner reportedly last two hours and was “cordial,” despite Trump’s consistent attacks on the network on his Truth Social app.
From the NYT:
The Fox executives made a soft appeal for Mr. Trump to attend the debate, two of the people familiar with the dinner said, telling the former president that he excels on the center stage and that it presents an opportunity for him to show off his debate skills. Several people who have tried pushing Mr. Trump to debate in recent weeks have argued that if he does not show up, he could be giving an opening to other candidates to perform well.
Mr. Trump told the Fox executives that he had not yet made a decision and would keep an open mind, the three people said. The Fox team requested the meeting. The dinner was supposed to have included another participant from the network — the host Sean Hannity, who is friendly with Mr. Trump — but he was doing his 9 p.m. show and couldn’t make it.
Despite his legal troubles, Trump is currently the Republican frontrunner in the primary with a commanding lead in key states such as Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada.
Fox News did not respond to a Mediaite request to confirm the dinner meeting.
