Fauci Says ‘It’s Just Too Soon to Tell’ Whether Americans Could Hold Christmas Gatherings
It’s 83 days until Christmas and Dr. Anthony Fauci is unsure if he can recommend holiday gatherings in December.
CBS’ Margaret Brennan interviewed the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director on Face The Nation, where the question was whether America can expect another Covid surge after the country surpassed 700,000 casualties from the pandemic. As Fauci suggested constant vigilance and recommended that the public get vaccinated, Brennan asked about recent Covid studies and what they might mean for the U.S. as it moves into the cold months.
“We’re going into the holidays,” she said. “Do people need to start looking around and saying it’s just too risky to gather with family members if there are unvaccinated children?”
Fauci answered that for communities with a lot of Covid spread, “even if you are vaccinated and you are in an indoor setting, a congregate setting, it just makes sense to wear a mask and to avoid high risk situations. And what we should be doing is look at ventilation in indoor places.”
“But we can gather for Christmas, or it’s just too soon to tell?” Brennan asked.
Fauci’s answer: “It’s just too soon to tell.”
We’ve just got to concentrate on continuing to get those numbers down and not try to jump ahead by weeks or months and say what we’re going to do at a particular time. Let’s focus like a laser on continuing to get those cases down. And we can do it by people getting vaccinated and also in the situation where boosters are appropriate to get people boosted because we know that they can help greatly in diminishing infection and diminishing advanced disease, the kinds of data that are now accumulating in real time.
Even though Fauci based his answer on the scientific necessity to adjust pandemic policy in response to new data, it is possible his advice won’t be heeded by some.
Some conservatives on Twitter noticed Fauci’s take on Christmas gatherings and are rejecting it on its face:
He said at an Atlantic event this week that he rejects the idea that even moderate or mild COVID infection is okay when that’s exactly what we’re told is the purpose of vax (as opposed to preventing transmission entirely).
His philosophy is not compatible with a free society. https://t.co/xKjzm773ls

@hughhewitt's line of questioning this week becomes even more relevant. Seriously, no one will be listening to this guy anymore. https://t.co/CXTb6y9507

Margaret Brennan: “do you want to be Covid king forever?”
Fauci: “you know, Margaret, yes. Yes I do want to remain Covid king for life.” https://t.co/1OudhC8gWm

Fauci once again doesn't differentiate between his own hypochondria and guidance of public health policy based on medical fact.
See your families on Christmas. Fuck this guy. https://t.co/VESVyoabwj

The Fauci Who Stole Christmas:
MARGARET BRENNAN: But we can gather for Christmas, or it's just too soon to tell.
DR. FAUCI: You know, Margaret, it's just too soon to tell. (Face the Nation)Biden’s going to regret not showing him the door sooner.

I would like to inform Biden and Fauci that regardless of what they say, Americans are celebrating Christmas.
