They were supposed to be released. President Donald Trump signed a bipartisan law under intense pressure requiring the Justice Department to make them public. The deadline passed. The files did not appear. The DOJ is now breaking a statute its own president approved.

And almost no one is talking about it.

That silence reflects a presidency built on velocity replacing consequence and spectacle replacing governance.

The Epstein Files Transparency Act gave the attorney general 30 days to release all unclassified DOJ material related to Jeffrey Epstein. That deadline came and went in December. The department has released only a sliver of documents, offered no firm timeline, and provided no serious public explanation for its failure to comply. Reporters have not pressed the issue with any persistence. The absence of explanation has become part of the story.

Under normal conditions, this would be consuming Washington. A president signs a law. His own Justice Department ignores it. That is not a messaging problem. It is a constitutional stress test.

The Epstein files are not just a legal malfunction. They are a political exposure, best evidenced by a Ford factory worker shouting “pedophile protector!” at the president which elcited a presidential bird flip in response.

Trump’s base thrives on the idea that he pulls back the curtain on elites and protects the innocent against predation and cover-ups. When he signs a law meant to force release of evidence and then allows his own Justice Department to blow past the deadline without answer, it undercuts that core mythology. That is why this story should be more damaging — not just legally, but politically.

Instead, the space where accountability should live has been overtaken by a blur of crises:

Trump directing the military to invade another sovereign country and extract the Venezuelan leader, Nicolas Maduro.…Trump openly threatening military action against Iran…Trump openly talking of invading or taking Greenland as a territorial acquisition…Federal immigration enforcement in Minneapolis erupting into national unrest and deadly encounters in Minneapolis…Senior administration officials leaking and attacking one another in public.

Any one of these would have defined an entire presidency. In Trump’s second term, they barely define a week.

All of this feels far less like improvisation and more of a deliberate strategy of stacking controversies faster than accountability can form. The firehouse of scandal and conflict worked well for the White House in 2025, so why not turn it up for 2026 ahead of the midterms? The phrase for it is “flooding the zone,” and every timeline proves it works. Every recap demonstrates the same thing: Trump dominates coverage by ensuring nothing has time to mature into consequence.

The Epstein files matter because they demand patience. They require follow-up, institutional memory, and sustained pressure. They are not visual. They do not trend. They are exactly the kind of scandal that cannot survive in a system optimized for speed and outrage.

A movement built on exposing hidden elites is now watching its own president quietly run out the clock, shielded by the noise he generates.

There is a trap here. Even naming the pattern participates in it. But silence participates more. Letting a statutory violation dissolve into the churn is the outcome this strategy is designed to produce.

The Justice Department is still breaking the law. The files are still unreleased.

What Trump has built is not just chaos. It is a political amnesia machine — an endless present tense where yesterday is unreachable before consequences can arrive.

It feels as though Google Chrome has been around forever, but it's actually still just a teenager: The browser launched back in 2008, originally just for Windows—though it's now made its way to macOS, Linux, and mobile devices too of course. It's a powerhouse of a browser that is more widely used than any other.

In the 18 years since its release, Chrome has changed a lot: A host of features have been added and taken away down the years, and it's very possible that you don't know everything that Chrome can do, even if you use it every day. Here are my favorite hacks for Chrome, covering everything from casting tabs to playing audio and video.

Change the look and feel of Google Chrome

If you've always stuck with the 'out of the box' Chrome aesthetic, you might not be aware that it's relatively simple to change up the theme of the browser—which covers the colors of menus and tabs, as well as what you see on the new tab page. To see the available options, open up a new tab, then click the Customize Chrome button (lower right).

You can apply any of the color themes just by clicking on them, or set up your own colors by clicking the color picker (the little pipette icon). For a more significant visual overhaul, click Change theme: You'll then see a range of options created and curated by Google. Click Chrome Web Store to see more official and third-party themes you can install.

Claw back some RAM from Chrome

It's fair to say Chrome doesn't have the best reputation for efficient RAM usage, but you can get some of it back. In any tab, click the three dots (top right), then choose Settings > Performance, and activate the Memory Saver option. As Google explains, this will put tabs you've not used in a while in an inactive state, and recover some RAM from them.

Put your tabs up on a big screen

It's not a Chrome feature that gets much attention, but you can cast tabs wireless to a big screen via Google TV or Chromecast devices. It's useful for everything from music streaming to slide presentations, though the latency is usually too high for video playback (and bear in mind that YouTube, for example, has its own casting button for this).

With a tab open in Chrome, click the three dots in the top right corner, then choose Cast, save and share > Cast. You'll then be asked to choose the device to cast to (which must be on the same wifi network of course). Via the Sources button, you can choose to cast just the tab you're in, or your entire Windows or macOS desktop, including Google Chrome.

Switch up your search engine

Just because you use Google Chrome doesn't mean you have to use Google Search—maybe you want to switch to a privacy-first alternative, like DuckDuckGo. To set up search engines in Chrome and change the default one, click the three dots in the top right corner of any tab, then choose Settings, and open the Search engine page.

Use the Add button to add new search engines, the pencil icons on the right to edit their details, and the three dots on the right to set which one is used by default (when you type some search terms into the Chrome address bar). Each search engine can also have a shortcut: Type the shortcut into the address bar to run a search using that specific site.

Group your tabs together

Tab grouping can make it much easier to manage the myriad tabs you've got open in every single session—these groups can be moved and closed and saved all together, so you could set up different groups for different research projects, for example, or for different tasks in the browser (maybe one for work-related browsing and another for shopping).

The easiest way to get started with tab groups in Chrome is to right click on a tab header and pick Add tab to new group from the pop-up menu. Give your tab a name and color, and if you then right-click on other tab headers, you'll be able to add them to the group (or create a new one). Right-click on the headers of grouped tabs to access further options.

Switch between user profiles

User profiles are a hugely powerful Chrome capability that more people should know about: It lets you split your browsing into work and personal categories, for example, (and separate Google accounts, if needed). It means that logins, browsing history, and all the other data that gets stored in Chrome don't all get lumped together in one place.

So, you could use your work profile for the day, and then switch to your personal profile at night—making it easier to access your Netflix login and Amazon shopping history, for example. To get started with profiles, click your current profile avatar (in the top right corner, next to the three dots), then choose Add Chrome profile from the menu.

Edit webpages with Tampermonkey

If you're prepared to invest some time and effort into your Chrome hacking, give the Tampermonkey extension a look (it's actually available for several browsers, not just Chrome). The tool lets you inject your own custom code to modify the websites you're looking at, so you can alter the appearance or even the functionality of pages.

You could remove distractions from a page, for example, add your own keyboard shortcuts for navigation, or insert new buttons for sharing links on social media. We don't have the space for a full tutorial here, but if you head to the Tampermonkey website you'll find a wealth of help to get you started, plus some links to user script repositories on the web.

Install web apps in Windows or macOS

There are plenty of powerful web apps you can get at through Chrome—Slack, Gmail, Spotify—and Google's browser lets you set these up as if they were desktop apps in Windows or macOS. You can get a shortcut straight to the app on the Windows taskbar or macOS dock, and when you launch it, it appears in its own distinct desktop window.

With the web app open in Chrome, click the three dots (top right), then choose Cast, save and share > Install page as app. You'll then be asked to give your new app a name, and click Install to confirm. The app launches right away, and you can then organize it into your Windows or macOS system as you want (by pinning it to the taskbar, for example).

Run a check for safety and privacy

Chrome comes with a built-in Safety Check that runs an audit on passwords, security updates, third-party extensions, and more. You can find the Safety Check screen by clicking the three dots to the top right of any tab, then choosing Settings > Privacy and security: As well as running the check, you can follow the recommended actions.

Use Chrome to preview files and preview media

Google Chrome can handle more than webpages: It's also able to open up PDF documents, and image, video, and audio files saved in common formats (like MP3 or MOV). Just drag a file into an empty tab to open it, or associate the file type with Chrome in Windows or macOS (which means it'll automatically open in the browser when you double-click on it).

Chrome isn't the most advanced PDF editor or video player you're ever going to see, but it's a quick and easy way of opening up local files without having to launch an entirely separate program each time. You could use this alongside the Split View feature, for example, to watch a video stored on your system while making notes in Google Docs.

Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) called for President Donald Trump’s administration to “reassess” how ICE and other immigration agents perform their duties following the shooting death of Alex Pretti last weekend.

Lawler shared where he thinks both Democrats and his own party have failed on immigration enforcement in an opinion piece for The New York Times on Tuesday. He said “collaboration” between both parties should start immediately following the Pretti shooting, beginning with a “transparent and accountable” investigation into that shooting and the death of Renee Good earlier this month.

He dinged Democratic lawmakers who have called for abolishing ICE, saying they have “increased the danger” for agents by “delegitimizing” federal immigration enforcement. But he also said he believed ICE and other agencies need to reconsider their methods.

“Agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection are conducting forceful operations in American communities,” Lawler wrote. “They should reassess their current tactics.”

Lawler did not share his opinion on what happened in the Pretti shooting, saying only that some of the current “chaos” in Minnesota could have been avoided if state authorities had worked together with federal agents. And beyond calling for an investigation, he said Congress should hold hearings immediately with the heads of ICE, Border Patrol, and DHS to “promote an honest national conversation” about immigration enforcement moving forward.

He offered a few suggestions for changing immigration law, including a “realistic plan” that would “provide a path to legal status — not citizenship — for long-term illegal immigrants without criminal records.” Lawler also called for the immigration system to be changed in order to prioritize immigrants based on merit.

Lawler’s piece ran less than a day after Trump said he spoke with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (D) about how state and local cops and federal agents can work together. The New York Republican said that it is imperative that both sides come together to make some changes after the last month.

“Americans do not want chaos,” Lawler wrote. “They want a common-sense bipartisan solution.”

If you filed a claim last year as part of the Siri class action suit against Apple, your payment is on the way. According to the settlement website, class payment distribution began on Jan. 23, and many users on Reddit report that funds have landed in their bank and payment apps over the last several days.

If you see a deposit from "Lopez Voice Assistant" or some variation, it's not a scam. The settlement allowed class members to opt for payment via direct deposit (ACH) as well as electronic or paper check, which will be delivered through email or regular mail, respectively.

Some class members are reporting that they received their funds via a different method than they expected, so if you submitted a claim, keep an eye on your transactions as well as your mailboxes to confirm receipt. Note that payouts are being distributed in batches and may take a few days to arrive.

What is the Apple Siri settlement?

Last year, Apple agreed to a $95 million settlement to resolve a class action lawsuit over privacy concerns with Siri-enabled devices. Users whose devices may have activated and recorded conversations without their knowledge were able to claim compensation. Initially, the settlement was set to pay out $20 per device—iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, HomePod, iPod touch, and Apple TV were all eligible—for up to five devices per individual claimant.

However, due to the final class size, the payout came to just $8.02 per device up to a maximum of $40.10.

The lawyer for Cities Church ripped Don Lemon for following anti-ICE protesters who stormed the Minnesota church earlier this month, saying he violated federal law by disrupting a service.

Attorney Renee Carlson called out Lemon while sitting next to lead pastor Jonathan Parnell during an interview on Fox & Friends on Monday morning.

“To Mr. Lemon, there is no press pass to invade a church,” Carlson said. “This is a violation of the FACE Act.”

She was referring to the 1994 law that prohibits people from intimidating others at a house of worship or from interfering with a religious service.

Carlson said the church was “prayerfully considering” its legal options to “hold these agitators” accountable.

Their appearance on Fox comes a little more than a week after the anti-ICE protesters ran into Cities Church and sabotaged a Sunday service that was taking place. The protesters said they targeted the church because they believed one of the pastors was a federal immigration agent.

Lemon captured the wild scene on a livestream on his YouTube account. The ex-CNN star told one church attendee that he was “just [there] photographing, I’m a journalist,” but critics have questioned whether he did more to assist the protesters.

Before the incident, Lemon was seen giving a kiss to Nakeema Armstrong, one of the three protest organizers who was arrested, and he also passed out donuts to protesters.

Lemon reported on his stream that some attendees were so rattled by the protest they were “crying.” But Lemon told viewers the protesters were simply exercising their right to peacefully protest when they stormed the church.

“This is what the First Amendment is about, the freedom to protest,” Lemon said. “I’m sure people here don’t like it, but protests are not comfortable.”

A federal magistrate judge declined to bring charges against Lemon last week, and an appeals court also rejected the Trump DOJ’s request to arrest Lemon afterwards.

Parnell told Fox News on Monday that his message to Lemon would be that his congregation has a lot in common with the protesters right now.

“We’re heartbroken over what’s happening in our cities right now,” he said. “There is a lot of pain in our cities, and we need healing.”

I've been an Android user for years, but I just got an iPhone last month, and I suddenly find myself coveting Apple's premium headphones—despite the high price. As such, the latest AirPods Max offer the best all-around experience for Apple users, but they're also one of the most expensive pairs of headphones you can buy, normally running more than half a grand.

But between now and Jan. 28, you can get them for $429.99 from Best Buy. Yes, they're still expensive, but when it comes to flagship Apple products, any discount is a good discount.

When the AirPods Max came out in 2020, there wasn't a lot of competition for headphones that could handle active noise-cancelling (ANC) and ambient awareness and provide top-tier audio performance. These days, there's stiff competition in all of those categories, especially at this price point, but the AirPods Max still stack up well, and they still make a statement. Yes, you're paying a premium price for the brand recognition as well as the quality. And if that's what you're after, these headphones are it.

When it comes to features, the AirPods Max aren't jam-packed, but what's here is pretty excellent (it's all very on-brand, given Apple's minimalist MO). They are among the best ANC headphones you can buy, they provide good ambient awareness so you can hear your surroundings as you listen, and they offer adaptive EQ and spatial audio that adjusts levels automatically based on your environment, according to PCMag's "excellent" review. The updated cans also now support lossless audio, low-latency audio, and USB-C audio.

There are some downsides: They're heavier than regular headphones, at 13.6 ounces. This comes from the use of metal for the design material. You also can't manually adjust the EQ to your liking, so if you don't like the sound signature, you're out of luck. Finally, and this might just be me, but the included smart case is ugly and doesn't protect the mesh that rests on your head (a delicate part of the headphones), but you don't have the option not to use it, as you need the smart case to put your headphones in "sleep" mode to prolong the 20 hours of battery aren't drained.

Republican Rep. James Comer (KY) suggested to Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo Sunday that President Donald Trump should consider removing ICE officials from Minneapolis if there’s a “chance of losing more…innocent lives.”

Bartiromo began by plainly stating, “We do not have evidence that [Alex Pretti] was waving a gun, doing anything to threaten border patrol. He had his phone, and he was shooting — he was viewing and recording the incident. That’s what he was doing, recording the incident.”

She then asked Comer, “You are an elected official, what can you do about it?”

“If I were President Trump, I would almost think about, okay, if the mayor and the governor are going to put our ICE officials in harm’s way and there’s a chance of losing more, you know, innocent lives or whatever, then maybe go to another city and let the people of Minneapolis decide, ‘Do we want to continue to have all of these illegals? Are we going to allow our governor, attorney general and mayor to get away with this?'” Comer said.

Comer then predicted that “the people of Minnesota would rebel against their leadership” if undocumented migrants were allowed to disappear into their community.

But Bartiromo wasn’t done asking Comer about the gun that Trump officials claimed without evidence that Pretti was “brandishing” at officers.

“Do we know that ICE saw the gun? Do we know that it was visible? Or was this a guy with a camera recording the incident and knowing that he was armed, they learned that later? Do we know that?”

“We don’t know,” Comer admitted. “I’m like you and every other American. I’ve watched that video dozens of times in slow motion, I’ve tried to determine whether he actually pulled a gun out or not. Yeah, I don’t know. I just know that the situation’s bad there.”

Pretti was an ICU nurse who had a legal permit to carry his concealed handgun. In the widely-circulated videos of the incident, an officer can be seen taking a gun from Pretti before the 37-year-old was shot and killed.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara delivered a fiery condemnation following Saturday’s shooting death of 37-year-old Alex Pretti at the hands of a Border Patrol agent.

In a gripping interview on Face the Nation Sunday, CBS’s Margaret Brennan asked O’Hara to weigh in on claims from federal officials that Pretti was assaulting border patrol agents.

“Is there any evidence that you know of that Pretti was assaulting the federal officers, as the Border Patrol chief claims?” Brennan asked.

“Well, I have seen the videos, just as thousands of people around the country have, and the videos speak for themselves,” O’Hara replied. “I think it’s deeply concerning the things that are being said. This is an individual that was a city resident. It appears that he was present, exercising his First Amendment rights to record law enforcement activity and also exercising his Second Amendment rights to lawfully be armed in a public space in the city. So I think very obviously, there are serious questions that are being raised. And I think the greater issue is, even if there is an investigation that ultimately proves that at the time of the shooting it was legally justified, I don’t think that even matters at this point, because there just- there is so much outrage and concern around what is happening in the city.”

Brennan followed up on the stunning comment from O’Hara that an investigative finding that the shooting was justified would not matter.

“What do you mean it does not matter at this point?” Brennan asked. “You mean the situation on the ground is already- the impression is left?”

“People have had enough!” O’Hara replied. “This is the third shooting now in less than three weeks. The Minneapolis Police Department went the entire year last year recovering about 900 guns from the street, arresting hundreds and hundreds of violent offenders, and we didn’t shoot anyone. And now this is the second American citizen that has been killed. It’s the third shooting within three weeks. People have been speaking out, saying that this was going to happen again. And I think everyone is kind of waiting for folks on both sides to come together and just figure this thing out. This is not sustainable. This police department has only 600 police officers. We are stretched incredibly thin. This is taking an enormous toll trying to manage all of this chaos, on top of having to be the police department for a major city. It’s too much.”

O’Hara went on to denounce the claim of Vice President JD Vance — who said “local police have been told to stand down when immigration authorities call 911 asking for help dealing with crowds surrounding them.”

“Were you ever ordered to stand down?” Brennan asked. “Have police been told not to protect ICE?”

“It is deeply disappointing to have anyone question and disparage the hard work of the men and women of the Minneapolis Police Department,” O’Hara replied. “There are 600 police officers that are left here after the destruction of the city in 2020, and they are doing an incredible job. About a dozen of our cops have been injured responding to a lot of the chaos that has resulted on the streets. Our officers respond every time there’s a threat to someone’s life, to public safety or destruction in the city. And it doesn’t matter whether it’s because ICE is there or someone from the community is there. We are doing everything that we can to manage this chaos. But there’s only 600 cops here, and there’s thousands of immigration agents here.”

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey sharply criticized the Trump administration and called for an end to federal immigration enforcement operations in the city after another fatal shooting involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. The latest incident, part of a series of confrontations between ICE personnel and local residents, has intensified protests and heightened tensions in Minneapolis and across Minnesota.

Frey’s statement called out President Donald Trump and condemned what he described as a “mass militarized force” of unidentified federal agents on Minneapolis streets, saying their presence “weakens our country” and “erodes trust in both law enforcement and in democracy itself.” He urged Americans to consider how future generations will judge their actions and called on President Trump to “act like a leader,” put “Minneapolis, put America first,” and work to “achieve peace” by ending the federal operation.

The shooting on Jan. 24 marked at least the third fatality or serious use of force by federal agents in the city in recent weeks, following the death of Renee Good on Jan. 7 and another person shot in the leg by a federal agent. Federal officials say the Jan. 24 encounter involved an armed individual, though local leaders dispute accounts and fault the surge of agents for fueling unrest.

Frey’s remarks reflect escalating calls from city and state leaders to remove ICE from Minneapolis, even as protests attract thousands and spread beyond the region. The mayor stressed that if the goal of federal operations is peace and safety, the current approach is achieving the opposite.

“So to President Trump, this is a moment to act like a leader,” Frey concluded his statement. “Put Minneapolis, put America First. In this moment. Let’sachieve peace. Let’s end thisoperation. And I’m telling you, our city will come back. Safety will be restored. We’re asking for you to take action now to remove these federal agents.”

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) joined MS NOW’s Morning Joe on Friday to discuss a range of issues, including popular podcaster Joe Rogan’s take on President Donald Trump using his Greenland threats as a way to distract from the Epstein Files not being released. Khanna joined with Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) to sponsor the bill that eventually became law, requiring the Justice Department to release the files on December 19th.

“I know you heard Joe Rogan’s comments yesterday that he thought so much of what was happening in Minneapolis and Greenland, all over the country and world, were all meant to simply distract from the Epstein files. Do you believe that?” asked host Joe Scarborough.

“You know, I think there’s something more sinister in terms of just conquering other lands and taking away Americans’ freedoms. But I do think that the Epstein issue is what most concerns Donald Trump. I was on Shawn Ryan’s podcast, one of the second biggest podcasts. He was a huge Trump supporter, and he said he would never have voted for Trump if he knew that Trump was going to protect pedophiles,” replied Khanna, adding:

You had the 40-year-old factory worker in Michigan. This is the classic Trump voter saying, “You know, Mr. President, why are you protecting pedophiles?” Donald Trump knows this has broken into the culture. It’s broken into culture because he said he was going to hold people accountable, hold the elites accountable, and now he and Pam Bondi are protecting the elites. So I do think he wants this off the front pages. The irony is he’s taken a 2025 story and made it a 2026 story because the only thing that is going to get this off the front page is if they release all the files.

“Well, it’s something we’ve been saying here for a very long time,” agreed Scarborough.

Dedicated runners and winter athletes will tell you that exercising in the cold is not as tough as it looks. Personally, I'd rather risk frostbite over any treadmill run that lasts longer than 20 minutes. But is there a point where winter runs cross over from difficult to dangerous?

There is no clear cut-off

Most experts suggest that the danger zone begins around -18°F (-28° Celcius), particularly when factoring in wind chill. At these extreme temperatures, the risk of frostbite increases dramatically, and breathing frigid air can become uncomfortable or even harmful to your lungs and airways.

But beyond the raw temperature, certain conditions should prompt you to choose the treadmill over the trail. Wind chill matters significantly more than the actual temperature—a 20°F day with 25 mph winds feels like -4°F and carries similar risks. Precipitation combined with cold is particularly dangerous, as wet clothing rapidly accelerates heat loss.

Icy conditions create obvious fall risks, and a twisted ankle or other injury becomes far more serious when you're miles from home in subzero temperatures. If the footing is treacherous with ice or you're unable to adequately protect your extremities with the gear you have available, it's wise to skip the outdoor run. Trust your instincts: If the cold feels genuinely painful within the first few minutes rather than just uncomfortable, that's your body sending a clear message.

Again, this threshold isn't absolute. Your personal cold tolerance, experience level, the gear you own, and specific weather conditions all play a role. I know I've managed runs in 10°F, mostly because it was plenty sunny, with no wind, and I was expertly bundled up. Here are some of things to do if you’re a brave soul heading out to run in the freezing cold.

How to avoid cold-related injuries while running

If you do venture out in very cold weather, preparation is everything. Dress in layers using moisture-wicking base layers, insulating middle layers, and windproof outer shells. Protect your extremities carefully with gloves or mittens, a hat or headband, and warm socks. A neck gaiter is a must-have to pull up over your nose and mouth to help warm the air before it reaches the lungs.

Start your run into the wind so you'll have it at your back when you're sweaty and more vulnerable to heat loss on the return trip. Keep your runs shorter and stay close to home or in areas with bailout options. Let someone know your route and expected return time. It also helps to physically modify your route to accommodate layers. Plan a run where you can shed extra layers after the first mile and then pick them up on your way back.

Pay attention to your body throughout the run. Any numbness, excessive pain, confusion, or severe shivering means it's time to get indoors immediately. Remember that you can always cut a run short—there's no shame in prioritizing your safety over a workout.

Another tip, from plenty of personal experience: Be extra aware of mouth-breathing while running in cold, dry air. I recommend running with cough drops in order to help you practice breathing through your nose.

The bottom line

I always tell myself that if something feels off after my first mile, I’m allowed to turn around and walk home. Grant yourself extra leniency in extreme weather conditions. If you really can’t bear missing any miles, consider a hybrid plan of running half of your route outdoors and half on a treadmill.

You can run outside at quite chilly temperatures before you seriously risk frostbite or any other cold-weather consequences. For most runners, the practical limit for safe outdoor running falls somewhere between 0 and -20°F. As long as you’re prepared with protective gear, you can listen to your body to acclimate to cold temperatures as best as you personally can.

Several images circulating on social media on Thursday show intense bruising on President Donald Trump’s hands as new questions erupt over his health.

The photos, taken by Getty photographer Chip Somodevilla and AFP’s Fabrice Coffrini, at the president’s Board of Peace charter signing, were shared Thursday by liberal clipper Aaron Rupar.

As Rupar noted, “Trump’s *left* hand — not the one that is usually disfigured — now has a large bruise and is discolored.”

The Drudge Report splashed one of the images at the top of the site Thursday with the headline: “President’s Chronic Health Issue on Full Display at Davos…”

Trump spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt later explained to CBS News White House producer Sara Cook that the bruising came when Trump “hit his hand in the corner of the signing table, causing it to bruise.”

The Trump administration has spent months trying to quell chatter about his health. At one point in July,  Leavitt attributed the bruising to “frequent” handshaking as the president met with world leaders.

“This is consistent with minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking, and the use of aspirin, which is taken as part of a standard cardiovascular prevention regimen,” Leavitt said at the time. “This is a well-known and benign side effect of aspirin therapy, and the president remains in excellent health.”

It's Oscar season! By which I mean, it's that time of year when movie dorks are in a rush to catch up on as many Oscar-nominated films as is feasible before the awards ceremony kicks off—which, this year, will be on March 15 on ABC. If box office and streaming numbers are any indication, there's a good chance you've seen this year's nominations front-runner, Sinners, which didn't just receive the most nominations in 2026, but received the most nominations ever (can't say I'm mad about it), but the second-most nominated movie of the year, Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another, is also readily available.

Unfortunately, you can't yet easily stream major nominees like Marty Supreme, Hamnet, and The Secret Agent, which are still making the rounds in theaters. It's also too early to stream the likes of Sirât, The Voice of Hind Rajab, Kohuko, Viva Verdi!, Arco, Zootopia 2, and Avatar: Fire and Ash, though there's a good chance that will change before the first envelopes are torn open. I'll continue to update this article as more movies drop on digital platforms. Unless your a hardcore cinema-goer, you should have plenty to occupy your eyeballs until then.

Sinners

Ryan Coogler's Sinners didn't just do pretty well with the nominations—it did historically well. The previous record has stood at 14 since 1950, when All About Eve deservedly won the night. Titanic and La La Land matched that number, but it's never been beaten until now (the addition of the new Best Casting category helping matters just a bit). Nominations aren't trophies—La La Land didn't wind up winning the actual Best Picture prize—but it's still a notable achievement.

It's also an Oscar rarity in another sense: Sinners is one of a very small handful of horror movies to be nominated for Best Picture and may well be only the second (after Silence of the Lambs) to win. Stream Sinners on HBO Max and Prime Video.

Frankenstein

Perpetual Oscar fave Guillermo del Toro's long-gestating Frankenstein adaptation finally made it to theaters (albeit briefly—it's mostly a Netflix thing) this year, and the result was worth the wait. Sumptuous and appropriately horrifying, the director did Mary Shelley proud, and the film earned a very respectable nine nominations along the way. The all-time number of Frankenstein movies runs into the hundreds, but I'm pretty sure that this is the first one to get any significant Oscar love. Stream Frankenstein on Netflix.

Sentimental Value

This Norwegian import from director Joachim Trier (The Worst Person in the World, which also starred Best Actress nominee Renate Reinsve) managed to pick up nominations in both the International Film and overall Best Picture categories.
