CBS Sports host Kate Scott on Wednesday offered pointed criticism on the soccer player accused of hurling racist abuse at Brazilian forward Vinicius Jr.

Moments after Vini Jr. scored for Real Madrid in its Champions League match against Portuguese club Benfica on Tuesday, he was given a yellow card for the way he celebrated. That celebration drew the ire of multiple Benfica players, and the two teams began jawing at one another. At some point during the incident, Benfica winger Gianluca Prestianni said something to Vini Jr. with his shirt covering his mouth. Apparently stunned by what he heard, Vini Jr. immediately ran to nearest official to report it. That official then initiated the racist abuse protocol, prompting an on-field investigation into the matter. Play resumed shortly after.

After the match, both Vini Jr. and his teammate Kylian Mbappe claimed they heard Prestianni say something racist. Prestianni has insisted that Vini Jr. misheard him, but he hasn’t confirmed what he actually said through his shirt.

On CBS Sports Golazo, Scott opened the show with a statement urging for change in the soccer community when she said:

Well, I guess today is a new day in football, but with the same old racist problems; and whilst we do wanna focus on the games ahead today — because the game is what we love — yesterday does still linger. And whether or not you like Vini Jr., that shouldn’t shape your opinion on this incident, and which team you support, it shouldn’t affect which side of the story that you fall on. This isn’t Real Madrid versus Benfica. It is right versus wrong. Vini Jr. and Kylian Mbappe said there was repeated racial abuse. Gianluca Prestianni said they misheard, but he covered his mouth to hide what he said from the cameras; and hopefully we can all agree that if what you’re saying on a football pitch is shameful enough to have to hide it from the public, then you’re wrong.

Scott took a moment to recognize Black players of the past who also had to endure racism. Then, she singled out Benfica manager Jose Mourinho, who suggested that Vini Jr. is at least partly responsible for the racism harassment he faces because of the way he provokes opposing crowds.

Scott continued:

Jose Mourinho is an iconic figure in world football. Yesterday, he switched the focus from what had actually been said to whether there was provocation for it. He essentially told us that Vini Jr. was asking for it. That is a damaging narrative from a man who is considered a leading figure in the global game.

Football governance struggles globally with racial diversity at its top executive levels, as do UEFA, but we do hope that the lack of Black voices in the room will not mean that Black players continue to go unprotected. Investigation and due process will have to occur. But whatever the results of that in this case, we hope that football becomes a better platform, where hatred is met with more than nominal fines and partial stadium closures, where diversity is truly celebrated, not just tolerated or abused with shirts over mouths.

The racial diversity on a football pitch in the Champions League is the representation of the global love for this game and the global belonging in this game. This is the very spirit of football. And if you don’t agree, then respectfully, you are the one who doesn’t belong.

This week, an avalanche killed eight people who were on a backcountry skiing expedition on Lake Tahoe. One person is also missing, but presumed dead. This story is tragic, but, miraculously, six members of the group survived the disaster. According to the New York Times, those skiers were rescued thanks to a standard iPhone feature, Emergency SOS via satellite, which let them connect to emergency services from where they were trapped by snow.

If you have an iPhone, you probably have this feature available to you, as well. Better yet, it's not hard to activate in the event of an emergency, though it doesn't hurt to know exactly how it works ahead of time. This isn't the first time Emergency SOS via satellite was credited with saving lives during disasters, and knowing about it now could potentially save your life in a future emergency.

What is Emergency SOS via satellite?

You might be familiar with your iPhone's Emergency SOS feature—you may have even set it off accidentally when clicking the buttons too many times in a row. Emergency SOS makes it easy to quickly dial 911 in the event of an emergency.

But Emergency SOS via satellite is different. This feature connects you to emergency services when you're in an area with no cellular service. Where a typical 911 call would route through your carrier's network, Emergency SOS via satellite connects your call or message to the nearest satellite above your head. That means, so long as conditions are right, you're able to contact emergency services from basically anywhere in the world, regardless of whether that area is covered by cell networks.

Of course, since communications are being routed via satellite, the experience is much different than a standard cellular connection. Apple says that in "ideal conditions" with a clear sky, it might take 30 seconds for messages to send. Less ideal conditions, say, if your view of the sky is blocked by trees, could slow a message down to 60 seconds or more.

Apple first launched this feature with the iPhone 14, but since iOS 18, you've been able to text anyone via satellite. The principle is the same, but you can reach out to friends and family rather than 911. If there's an emergency, but not one you need police, fire fighters, or EMTs for, this can connect you to close friends no matter where you are.

How to use Emergency SOS via satellite

To connect to satellite with your iPhone, you'll need an iPhone 14 or later. You'll also need to be running iOS 16.1 in the U.S. and Canada, though other regions have their own software requirements. The feature is currently available in the following countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, the UK, and the U.S.

You won't have the option to connect to satellite services when you have a connection, either cellular or wifi. Instead, the option appears when you have no service. Once this happens, iOS' Connection Assistant will ask if you want to connect to satellite. If you miss the prompt, you can launch it from the Cellular tile in Control Center, or from Settings > Satellite.

Once the Connection Assistant launches, it'll walk you through connecting to your nearest satellite, including with on-screen visuals, but here's the gist: You'll need to be outside with as clear a view of the sky as you can. Apple says that "light" to "medium" foliage from trees could slow down messages, while "dense" foliage, hills, mountains, or tall structures could prevent connection at all.

Apple says you can hold your iPhone as you usually would—no need to point it at the sky—but you may be instructed to move left or right depending on the location of the satellite. Apple also says the connection might not work in places above 62° latitude, which includes northern parts of Alaska.

Once connected, the first thing you should do is try calling 911. The call might go through even over satellite, but if it doesn't, you'll find the option to send an "Emergency Text." Tap this option, then choose the appropriate services (roadside assistance or emergency services.). You can also open the Messages app, text 911, then choose "Emergency Services." Here, tap "Report Emergency," then answer questions when prompted to describe the situation you're in. You can also choose to automatically notify emergency contacts that you contacted 911. From here, your iPhone shares all this information, along with your location, remaining iPhone battery life, and Medical ID (if set up), with responders.

Is Emergency SOS via satellite free?

Yes! (For now.) Since its launch, Emergency SOS via satellite has been free to use, though Apple officially says that the feature is free for two years after an iPhone is activated. The company pushed back that deadline for iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 users last year, so no iPhone has actually had to pay for the feature yet. The company might continue to push it back, or begin charging, but there's no word on pricing at this time.

It's worth noting T-Mobile has its own satellite feature, as well. If you have the service, and an iPhone 13 or later, you could use their satellite connectivity services instead.

Fox News commentator Kennedy demolished a new report claiming Kurt Cobain did not kill himself but was murdered in 1994, with Kennedy saying that was ridiculous to believe if you knew anything about the Nirvana frontman, his chronic depression, and the facts surrounding his death.

Kennedy reexamined Cobain’s suicide on her Kennedy Saves the World podcast on Tuesday. The ex-MTV VJ called out a report from The Daily Mail last week that said an “unofficial private sector team of forensic scientists” concluded Cobain’s death was a homicide — fueling new headlines and speculation about his suicide being a cover up. That’s all BS, Kennedy said.

“Yes there was murder involved — he murdered himself,” Kennedy said. “He died by suicide!”

She added, “There are people who talk with such great certainty and insist that he was murdered. And I insist, you didn’t know him! You weren’t there, you didn’t see him, you didn’t interact with him.”

Kennedy said Cobain’s depression was evident to anyone who interacted with him. She pointed out Cobain tried to kill himself by overdosing on pills a month prior to his death while in Italy in March 1994 and that he had just ditched a drug rehab facility in the days leading up to his suicide.

Another issue was his relationship with wife Courtney Love, who Kennedy said was a “handful” and “no doubt” contributed to his depression.

“It was tragic because everyone knew it was coming,” Kennedy said. “It was the kind of thing that happened in slow motion, and because it was unsurprising it didn’t make it any less sad.”

Suicide and depression ran in Cobain’s family too, with author Charles Cross writing about how multiple Cobain family members killed themselves in his 2001 biography Heavier Than Heaven. All of those factors contributed to Cobain taking a massive dose of heroin and shooting himself in the head in the greenhouse at his Seattle home in April ’94, Kennedy said.

But the investigators in the Daily Mail instead believe that Cobain was “confronted by one or more assailants who forced a heroin overdose to incapacitate him, before one of them shot him in the head, placed the gun in his arms and left behind a forged suicide note.”

That’s absurd, Kennedy argued.

“I do not believe this,” she said. “I truly believe in my heart that Kurt Cobain was a suicidal, depressed drug addict who had way too much fame that he couldn’t hand or process and no longer wanted to be of this world.”

And even if the outlandish idea that “someone” arrived at Cobain’s house to pump him full of drugs before killing him was true, Kennedy said the Smells Like Teen Spirit rocker wouldn’t have protested too much anyway — because he had a death wish.

“Do you think he would’ve resisted?” Kennedy asked. “No, he would’ve said, pinch me. Really, I was going to do that!”

She ended her segment by saying,”You are not going to find his killer, because his killer is dead. It was him! So just stop it, leave it alone, let him rest in peace, finally.”

Cable news star, daily radio anchor, and now… podcast host. Sean Hannity is adding another title to his resume, with Fox News on Tuesday announcing the upcoming launch of a new twice-a-week podcast from the cable veteran.

The show is dubbed Hang Out with Sean Hannity and will debut on March 3. It will cover politics, as you’d expect, but will touch on a number of other topics as well, including sports, business, and culture.

Hang Out will be filmed at Hannity’s Florida “man cave” and offer “long-form, unfiltered conversations” with big-name guests from multiple backgrounds, according to Fox’s announcement. Hannity will dive into the “defining moments” — including personal setbacks and triumphs — each guest has faced and examine the “true grit” needed to be successful, the release added.

“I’ve always been interested in how people got to where they are,” Hannity said in a statement. “The risks they took, the failures they pushed through, and the lessons that don’t make it on TV. This podcast is a chance to slow down and have those conversations, no scripts, no talking points, just real discussions with people who have something meaningful to say.”

The new program adds to the growing list of podcasts under the Fox News umbrella — something longtime executive Porter Berry is spearheading for the company, after adding President of New Media to his title last year. That move coincided with Fox News striking a licensing deal with the right-leaning Ruthless podcast in June 2025; Fox News has several other podcasts led by channel stars as well, including Will Cain Country, Planet Tyrus, and The Riley Gaines Show.

“Sean Hannity remains one of the most influential voices in media, grounded by the same values and work ethic that defined his early days,” Berry said. “We’re thrilled to expand our podcast portfolio with one of the most accomplished broadcasters to ever pick up a microphone.”

Hannity has been with Fox News since it launched in 1996, and his nightly program averaged 3.2 million viewers last year — helping propel the channel to its best non-election year ever. And beyond his Fox News show, he hosts his  radio program The Sean Hannity Show from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. each weekday.

Even with the already-packed schedule, it looks like Hannity has the energy for a few more hours of podcasting each week, starting next month. Fox said the podcast will be available on YouTube, Spotify, “or wherever you get your podcasts.”

New York City radio host Sid Rosenberg absolutely shredded Spike Lee for wearing a pro-Palestine outfit to the NBA All-Star Game, calling the director a “little p*ssy” and “little b*tch” who deserved a pummeling for his choice of garb.

Rosenberg went off on Lee on Monday, one day after he was seen wearing a black-and-white keffiyeh-patterned sweater at the All-Star Game in LA. Lee also had the green-white-black-red Palestine flag on the middle of his hoodie and was carrying a purse that had several Palestine flags across the strap.

The host said he was a “die hard” Knicks fan like Lee, but did not bother watching the All-Star game Sunday. Still, he saw pictures of Lee’s outfit and was disgusted by it.

“I do want to point out what a scumbag Spike Lee is,” Rosenberg said. “I would go to a Knick game now and I’m not going to encourage any violence — but somebody would probably have to stop me from running up to Spike Lee and just knocking his ass out. Yeah, I said it.

He scoffed a moment later, “This little pussy Spike Lee shows up to the NBA All-Star game… wearing this pro-Palestine outfit.”

Rosenberg ripped Lee on his WABC 770 AM show, Sid & Friends in the Morning. He asked show contributor and station news director Noam Laden why Lee would decide to wear such a provocative outfit to the game.

“I guess he’s angry that an Israeli made it [into] the All-Star game,” Laden said.

He was referring to Portland Trailblazers wing Deni Avdija, who became the first Israeli to earn the honor on Sunday. Laden added the game was a “strange” place for Lee to protest anything regarding Israel and Gaza.

“It’s not strange, it’s hateful,” Rosenberg said. “Spike Lee is a little b*tch. He doesn’t like white people, he doesn’t like Jews.”

Rosenberg is usually more focused on local and national politics than sports, and he has been an unabashed supporter of President Donald Trump.

President Donald Trump is denying that he came up with the idea of renaming New York City’s Penn Station “TRUMP STATION” despite a recent report that he withheld billions of dollars in federal funding to do just that.

Trump, taking to his Truth Social platform on Monday afternoon, posted a long screed voicing his opposition to the so-called “Gateway” tunnel project between New York and New Jersey, saying it would be “financially catastrophic for the region.”

He then turned his attention to the Penn Station matter.

“Also, the naming of PENN Station (I LOVE Pennsylvania, but it is a direct competitor to New York, and ‘eating New York’s lunch!’) to TRUMP STATION, was brought up by certain politicians and construction union heads, not me – IT IS JUST MORE FAKE NEWS! NO COST OVERRUNS!!!”

He capped the rant with his signature, “Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”

Trump’s “TRUMP STATION” denial came nearly two weeks after NBC News reported that he told Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) he would release the federal funds necessary for the Gateway tunnel if Schumer renamed Dulles International Airport and Penn Station after him.

Trump claimed that it was Schumer who floated the idea to him, a notion later contradicted by Trump’s own press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, who said Trump floated the idea to the New York senator.

Fox News host Aishah Hasnie sparred with Democratic pundit David Carlucci Monday over Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) sloppy answer on foreign policy during the Munich Security Conference.

Hasnie, filling in for Harris Faulkner, introduced the clip of AOC flubbing a question on China and Taiwan, saying, “Critics are torching AOC for this word salad flub on a basic foreign policy question.”

In the clip, the moderator asked AOC, “Would and should the U.S. actually commit U.S. troops to defend Taiwan if China were to move?”

AOC’s answer was punctuated with long pauses:

You know, I think that — this is such a, you know, I think that — this is a, a, this is, of course, a very longstanding, um, policy of the United States. And I think what we are hoping for is that we want to make sure we never get to that point.

“Look, if you’re gonna enter world politics in the global stage you gotta be better prepared on a topic that is critical — and everything you say, China watches,” Hasnie said to Carlucci.

“Yeah look. I think what we’re missing here is Republicans are just piling on the word structure of AOC when Republicans should be more concerned about pushing back against Putin’s power structure and that’s what we see. We see Marco Rubio coming, gives a good speech, you know, talks in poetry, while AOC comes and talks in prose about what are we really going to do.”

“She didn’t have a strategic answer. She didn’t come prepared,” Hasnie said.

Carlucci answered that AOC was being “reserved” in her answer.

“Remember, this is a rank-and-file member of Congress. We can’t compare that to the secretary of state that really does need to come with a solid answer of what are you doing right now,” Carlucci said. “AOC is saying, ‘Look, while Marco Rubio might be sending a Hallmark card to Europe, the Democrats are talking about a real security plan of how we’ll govern going forward and keep our allies safe and keep them close.'”

“I think you made an excellent point — this is a rank-and-file member — which raises the question why a rank-and-file member, what they were doing at the Munich Security Conference,” Hasnie said.

Hillary Clinton fumed President Donald Trump is “modeling” himself after Russian authoritarian Vladimir Putin and has “betrayed the West” since returning to the White House in an acid-tongued rant in Germany.

The ex-secretary of state went off on Trump at the Munich Security Conference on Saturday — and her rant was so intense that one of her fellow panelists had to joke about it. Clinton doubled down by saying he needed to take a “hard look” at the damage Trump is doing to the Europe-USA relationship; more on that in a moment.

“He has betrayed the west, he’s betrayed human values, he’s betrayed the NATO charter, the Atlantic charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights,” Clinton started off saying about Trump.

She then accused Trump of wanting “unaccountable power,” before saying “none of us in this room — including all of us on this panel — would choose to live under a regime that is so unaccountable, that it could act with impunity the way Putin does, except that’s who Trump is modeling himself after.”

Co-panelist Petr Macinka, the deputy prime minister of the Czech Republic, scoffed.

“I think you really don’t like him,” Macinka quipped.

“That is absolutely true,” Clinton responded. “Not only do I not like him, I don’t like him because of what he’s doing to the United States and the world, and I think you should take a hard look at it if you think there’s something good that will come of that.”

The back-and-forth got some chuckles from the room.

Macinka told her that he felt what Trump was doing was simply a “reaction” to “some policies that really went too far” for “regular people.”

Clinton asked him to point to examples, and Macinka said the “woke revolution” and cancel culture. “This is something that went too far,” he added, after saying the belief there are more than two genders is a “social construct.”

“But does that justify selling out the people of Ukraine?!” Clinton shot back.

“Can I finish my point? I’m sorry it makes you nervous,” Macinka sardonically said.

Clinton said she was not nervous about Trump and the two discussed the Russia-Ukraine War from there.

Border Czar Tom Homan did not defend the remarks Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem when confronted about her saying DHS has been “proactive to make sure that we have the right people voting, electing the right leaders to lead this country.”

Noem made the comments during a press conference in Arizona on Friday to promote the SAVE Act that would require all voters to show I.D. at the polls.

“So, what does she mean when she says electing the right leaders?” Tapper asked on Sunday’s edition of CNN’s State of the Union. “That’s not really immigration enforcement or DHS responsibility.”

“I don’t know, that’d be a question for the secretary,” Homan answered. “If I had to guess, probably, that, you know, only those legally eligible to vote would vote, but I have not talked to the secretary about those statements. That’d be something she’d have to answer.”

Tapper then asked about the “credibility issue” faced by DHS following Noem’s stint in Minneapolis where she defended the aggressive tactics taken by ICE and Border Patrol agents.

“Do you agree that there are people in the Trump administration that are causing DHS to have a credibility problem?” Tapper asked.

Homan first said that he ordered more internal affairs officers to Minnesota to investigate allegations of officer misconduct.

“We’ll let the internal affairs and the bureau investigate these allegations, and that’s the right thing to do,” He said, continuing:

But I’m not going to let the media divide this administration. Look, it’s one team, one fight. And, you know, do me and Secretary Noem agree on everything? No, we have discussions and we have difference in opinion. That’s what makes it a strong team. We bring different ideas to the table, then agree on a mission. But based on, you know, again, you can’t work in an echo chamber. You want to hear different opinions. Different — you know how you think this should happen or that should happen. But in the end, we clear a mission. We have great success on it. But it’s one team, one fight. I’m not going to divide this administration. I’m just going to keep doing what the president wants me to do as a border czar. And we just keep going and doing what president promised the American people.

CNN’s Jake Tapper confronted Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) on Sunday’s State of the Union over Trump’s Department of Justice trying and failing to indict six Democratic lawmakers for creating a video urging troops not to obey illegal orders.

President Donald Trump had called their actions “sedition at the highest level” and demanded the DOJ prosecute Sens. Elissa Slotkin (D- MI) and Mark Kelly (D-AZ), and Reps. Jason Crow (D-CO), Maggie Goodlander (D-NH), Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA), and Chris Deluzio (D-PA).

“So, your fellow Republican senators were pretty outspoken about what the Trump administration tried to do,” Tapper began, listing off comments from Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Thom Tillis (R-NC), and Chuck Grassley (R-IA).

“How do you feel about the Trump administration trying to send those six members of Congress, including two of your Senate colleagues, to prison?” Tapper asked.

Mullin claimed he had no opinion on the DOJ’s actions, saying, “It’s not the lane I walk in — I leave that to the DOJ. I’m not an attorney, don’t pretend to be an attorney.”

“I do have a tough time imagining, let’s say if the Biden administration had tried to prosecute Rand Paul for saying things about Covid that they didn’t like,” Tapper pushed back. “I have a tough time imagining you would say the same thing.”

“Well, I would say the same thing if I’m not familiar with the case law,” Mullin persisted, adding, “What we don’t want to happen is for the DOJ to be used for political leverage, which is what happened underneath the Biden administration, which what happened when they went after Trump for year after year after year. And we’re trying to change that.”

A dubious Tapper argued, “Well, you just said you didn’t want to weigh in, but then you accused the Biden DOJ of politicizing the DOJ. I mean this DOJ is going after Trump’s political opponents: [James] Comey, Letitia James, people on the Fed, two of your colleagues, Kelly and Slotkin. I mean, you really don’t think this DOJ is politicized?”

Mullin ignored the question and returned to attacking Biden.

“I don’t think there’s even a question that the DOJ was weaponized against President Trump at this point. I mean, I don’t even think that’s a question.”

Mullin then claimed the DOJ issue was “nothing but a distraction” from the “political theater” of Democratic lawmakers allowing a partial government shutdown over immigration policy.

Conservative pundit Pete Seat went at it with Elie Mystal over the Epstein files on CNN’s Table For Five on Saturday, accusing him of deflecting over the Biden administration’s lack of action.

Seat began by addressing host Abby Phillip’s bewilderment at Attorney General Pam Bondi’s embattled performance in front of the House Judiciary Committee this week.

“She did what she did because Pam Bondi is a triple threat: She is inept, incompetent and incapable, and that’s what we saw in that hearing,” Seat said before calling on President Donald Trump to get rid of Bondi just like he did with Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem in Minnesota.

Seat then turned on Mystal.

“But I do want to follow up to what you said — Did you once ask why the Biden administration didn’t look those survivors in the face, even one time? And don’t roll your eyes!” he said.

MYSTAL: — and they should be investigating. And if you want to talk about things that I think Merrick Garland should investigate, you don’t want to get me started on who I think Merrick Garland should have in jail right now, because if Merrick Garland was doing a good job, Trump wouldn’t have even been able to run for president.

SEAT: That’s an incredibly skilled deflection.

MYSTAL: I am not deflecting!

SEAT: You are! Because you won’t answer the question. Did you wonder why the Biden administration did not seek justice for those survivors for four whole years?

MYSTAL: They didn’t not seek justice. I’m not deflecting from the question, I am disagreeing with your with your incorrect premise. They did seek justice. I didn’t think Merrick Garland went hard enough. I didn’t think Merrick Garland did a great job. I do not think that Pam Bondi is doing a great job. I do not think Donald Trump is doing a good job. Is that a full enough answer? Nobody involved here is doing enough to defend the Epstein victims. Are you satisfied with that answer?

SEAT: Sure, good job.

New video from near the Tucson, Arizona home of Nancy Guthrie was released by TMZ on Friday and is currently being looked into by police.

Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today anchor Samantha Guthrie, has been missing since the beginning of the month. The FBI recently released additional details about the suspected kidnapper and increased the reward to $100,000 for anyone who can provide information that leads to an arrest or Guthrie’s location.

The new video released by TMZ on Friday was taken one week before Guthrie went missing. The Ring video footage shows a suspicious man lurking outside a home six miles from Guthrie’s house and trying to obstruct his face from the camera.

TMZ reported that police are giving a “hard look” at the video as a “potential lead.” The person who took the video said the unidentified person fled the home when they heard dogs barking. The man was masked in the video, but a goatee or beard can be seen through it.

Police found blood outside of the home of Guthrie and TMZ has reported on a ransom note for her return. Authorities previously released footage from outside Guthrie’s home showing a masked man wearing a backpack.

“The suspect is described as a male, approximately 5’9” – 5’10” tall, with an average build. In the video, he is wearing a black, 25-liter ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack,” the FBI announced.

TMZ founder Harvey Levin said on Thursday that he received an email from a tipster claiming to know who kidnapped Guthrie and offering information in exchange for a Bitcoin payment.

“We’ve sent it on to the FBI. They’re looking at it. You know, but he says something in the middle of it that, you know, he paints a very bleak picture,” he told CNN.

If you own a home with an unfinished attic, you’ve probably thought about all that precious space and how you might make it more useful. Your attic already serves an important purpose in temperature and moisture regulation in the house, of course, but that doesn’t mean it can’t do more. If you’ve got the budget, you can transform an attic into a bedroom or office space, or a crisp, well-lit storage option.

If you don’t have the budget to really build out your attic, though, you can still make it into a more useful space, even if it’s small or slightly scary. With just a few modest purchases (and possibly some sweat equity), you can make your attic an ideal storage space.

Install easy, modular flooring on the attic's floor

Your first step towards making your attic useful is to make it safe to walk around. Even if your attic is shallow and standing up straight is impossible, having a stable surface will reduce your chances of falling through the ceiling.

Putting down plywood or oriented strand board (OSB) is a cheap and relatively easy option, but it’s also labor-intensive and pretty permanent. If you want a faster solution, floor panels like these from Attic Dek are sized to fit most standard joist spacings and are designed to just snap together, allowing you to quickly drop a floor into place without needing to cut them. They come with screws, and it’s a good idea to secure them in place, but if you just need a temporary floor that can bear weight (up to 250 pounds) you can just click them into place and bolt them down later.

Add no-wiring lights to the attic's ceiling

If your attic isn’t wired up or lacks light fixtures, you don’t need to hire an electrician and spend a mountain of cash. Just pick up one or two of these rechargeable ceiling lights and stick them to the ceiling or overhead joist (literally—you place a magnetic sticker on the ceiling and that holds the light in place—no screws required). It’s motion-activated, so every time you haul yourself up into the attic, the light will come on and save you from stumbling about in the dark.

Install adjustable storage that fits the space

Once you have a sturdy, safe floor in your attic, you can start installing storage options. You could, of course, just pile up some boxes or bins and call it a day, but you can do a lot better than that without breaking the bank:

• Installing some hanging rods designed for slanted surfaces (like an attic ceiling or rafters) will give you the option of hanging clothing or storage bags without cluttering up the floor.

• A few cheap, adjustable shelving units like this one can add all the shelf space you need to keep bins of stuff organized and off the floor, making it easy to store or retrieve items.

• If your attic is tight and trusses make it difficult to store anything, you can install some truss-friendly shelving. This can be a relatively easy DIY job involving screwing some support brackets into the trusses (as seen here). If you don’t have a floor in your attic, you have to avoid placing heavy storage boxes or bins directly on insulation—compressed insulation isn’t very effective. You can purchase some truss brackets that support plastic bins or other storage boxes off the floor.

Install a way to transport your stuff into the attic

Once you’ve got storage, you need a way to get stuff up into the attic, which can be more challenging than you expect. Carrying awkward, heavy boxes up flimsy, pull-down attic stairs is a recipe for accidents, so consider rigging up some mechanical assistance. You can spend a fair amount of money on a fancy lift system that will make bringing stuff up to your attic pretty easy, but if that’s too rich for your blood, you could opt for a simpler winch system that will allow you to haul up to 440lbs of stuff up there at a time. If that’s still a little too much, you could also opt for a classic pulley system, using good old-fashioned mechanical advantage to get your stuff up into the attic.

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) rejected his colleague Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-KY) call to tone things down a bit during a wild hearing exchange with Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison (D) on Thursday.

Hawley’s questioning of Ellison in the Senate Homeland Security Committee got off to a rough start with Ellison refusing to give a yes or no answer to the senator about whether he is Minnesota’s attorney general. Things only spun out of control further as Hawley accused Ellison of having direct involvement in a group in the state committing $250 million in fraud. Ellison denied involvement and specifically reports that he took $10,000 in campaign donations from individuals tied to the Feeding Our Futures group.

“Mr. Chairman, I didn’t come here to be insulted. I came here voluntarily,” Ellison told Paul, the chair of the Senate committee, while Hawley was accusing him of enabling and benefitting from fraud in his state.

Hawley referred to audio of an exchange between Ellison and the group, obtained by the conservative group Center for the American Experiment during his time on Thursday. He also referred to records showing $10,000 in campaign contributions from people linked to the group to Ellison.

Ellison denied receiving money from the group and insisted his office assisted in their eventual federal conviction. He accused Hawley of misrepresenting transcripts from the conversation in question.

Hawley was having none of it and told Ellison he “should be indicted” and asked him if it “was worth it,” leading to Paul briefly stepping in to ask Hawley to watch his “tenor.”

“I think we’ve made the point,” the chair said.

“I’ll ask the question how I want to, Sen. Paul,” Hawley shot back.

Hawley then focused on Ellison again for another couple of minutes, and things devolved to the point where each said the other should resign their positions.

It's once again time to update your Apple devices. The company just released a whole host of security patches, including a fix for an actively exploited zero-day affecting iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe. These updates arrived alongside the official release of iOS 26.3, which includes features like more seamless data transfer between iPhone and Android. Other security patches address bugs in Photos, VoiceOver, and Screenshots, to name a few.

iOS 26.3 patches a zero-day affecting dyld

According to Apple's latest security bulletin, the zero-day—tracked as CVE-2026-20700—is a memory corruption issue in dyld, Apple's "Dynamic Link Editor." The flaw could allow attackers with memory write capability to execute arbitrary code—or, in other words, run their own code on your device.

Apple says that the vulnerability may have been exploited in an "extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals" in earlier versions of iOS alongside CVE-2025-14174 and CVE-2025-43529. Those at greatest risk with this bug are likely high-profile users with access to sensitive data—users who might be inclined to use Apple's Lockdown Mode—but everyone should install the update to patch the issue.

The patch for this flaw is available for the following iOS and iPadOS devices, in addition to all Macs that run macOS Tahoe:

• iPhone 11 and later

• iPad Pro 12.9-inch 3rd generation and later

• iPad Pro 11-inch 1st generation and later

• iPad Air 3rd generation and later

• iPad 8th generation and later

• iPad mini 5th generation and later

How to install the latest security update for iPhone

You should have automatic updates enabled to ensure you receive critical security patches ASAP, but you can confirm that you're on the latest OS version under Settings > General > Software Update. Conservative commentator Meghan McCain revealed on Tuesday that he had been “listening to nothing but” Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny since his Super Bowl halftime performance, with a  song with an anti-Trump music video being her “favorite.”

“Been listening to nothing but Bad Bunny since the Super Bowl. Congrats to all the lunatics who have inadvertently turned me into the biggest Bad Bunny stan on the planet now,” wrote McCain on social media. “My favorite song is Titi Me Pregunto & NuevaYol.”

Social media users were quick to inform McCain – a supporter of President Donald Trump – of the anti-Trump nature of Bad Bunny’s song “NuevaYol,” which features a scene in its official music video where Trump apologizes to immigrants and says the United States would be “nothing” without migrants from Latin America.

“I made a mistake. I want to apologize to the immigrants of America,” says Trump in a fake presidential address in the video. “I want to say that this country is nothing without the immigrants. This country is nothing without Mexicans, Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, Colombians, Venezuelans, Cubans.”

Bad Bunny’s performance at the Super Bowl polarized viewers, receiving condemnation from many conservative Trump supporters who highlighted the rapper’s history of anti-ICE remarks and complained that the show was in Spanish and featured foreign flags.

The president himself criticized the show in a Truth Social post, calling it “absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER!” and an “affront to the Greatness of America.”

“Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World,” he wrote. “This ‘Show’ is just a ‘slap in the face’ to our Country.”
