Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) released a new ad this week for her re-election campaign and it is everything you would expect from the controversial, conspiracy-promoting Congresswoman.

“It’s the Washington establishment created globalist policies to move America into the global economy led by Klaus Schwab and the World Economic Forum,” starts off Greene.

“And now the war hawks, globalist elites, and neocons are banging the drums of war,” she continues, as images of Trump’s former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Reps. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) appear on the screen.

The inclusion of Pompeo and Graham is notable as Greene has been known to attack fellow Republicans, but rarely attacks pro-Trump Republicans who good appear to still be in good standing with former President Donald Trump.

“If we had real leadership in Washington, if we had real Americans in Washington that cared about our country, they would be only fighting and legislating and voting and passing laws to stop the globalist agenda, to stop this assault on our values, our freedoms, and our country,” she continues narrating as images flash across the screen, including the words “The Great Reset.”

She concludes the ad by saying “the Democrat Communists” want to take away “our faith, our family, and our freedoms.”

The “Great Reset” is a term referring to a fringe conspiracy theory on the far-right. The Anti-Defamation League sums up the theory as the belief that “global elites want to use the coronavirus as a tool to reorganize global societies and economies to their benefit at the expense of ordinary people, with the ultimate goal of a global totalitarian regime.”

The ADL explains that the “Great Reset,” like QAnon which it is affiliated, casts “President Trump as the only person between the American people and these disastrous outcomes.”

Greene has been known to promote a wide range of conspiracy theories from claiming that a Jewish space laser started deadly California wildfires, 9/11 trutherism, claiming the 2017 Las Vegas mass shooting was a false flag attack, to embracing QAnon before entering Congress – something she has since distanced herself from.

Admit it. You might be a little (or a lot) too controlling. If you clicked on this headline, you have either a sneaking suspicion—or a profound certitude—that you are possibly (probably?) guilty of trying to control the shit out of everything you can.

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences is being accused of misleading the public after releasing a statement saying Will Smith was asked to leave the ceremony after slapping Chris Rock on live TV.

Both Variety and TMZ are reporting that sources close to Smith say the statement claiming he was asked to leave is not only false but that he was eventually asked to remain in the theater.

“Sources close to the situation are refuting that the actor was ever formally urged to leave the show. It appears that in the chaos that surrounded the altercation, the Academy and the show’s producer sent mixed message about whether Smith should be expelled from the event,” reported Variety on Thursday.

The reporting appears to contradict the Academy’s statement on Wednesday, which said: “Mr. Smith was asked to leave the ceremony and refused, we also recognize we could have handled the situation differently.”

There is some grey area in the reporting, however. “Another person familiar with the Academy said that Smith was asked to leave through an on-site representative,” added Variety, noting, “That call was made by Academy president David Rubin and CEO Dawn Hudson, who, a source says, asked for Smith to leave the show instead of remaining in the auditorium for the rest of the telecast.”

In the end, though, Variety adds that show producer Will Packer “walked out into the orchestra and conferred with Smith, according to two witnesses.”

“Packer said that he and the production ‘officially’ wanted Smith to stay for the remainder of the show, according to one of the witnesses. Another source close to Packer denied that the producer urged Smith to remain,” the report added.

On the balance, however, Variety’s reporting is framed around debunking the Academy’s statement as the story ran with the headline: “Will Smith Was Not Formally Asked to Leave Oscars Following Chris Rock Slap, Sources Claim.”

Sources relayed to TMZ a similar version of events:

We’re told Will was aware there was talk about asking him to leave the theater. During one of the commercial breaks, we’re told Oscars producer Will Packer walked up to Will and said, ‘We do not want you to leave’ … this according to our sources.

How exactly the decision for Smith to remain in the theater and accept his Oscar for Best Actor remains somewhat unclear, but the notion that Smith was directly asked to leave and “refused” to do so appears in doubt.

Tributes to Bruce Willis have been pouring on Twitter following news that he is stepping away from acting after being diagnosed with language disorder Aphasia.

Willis’ daughter Rumer Willis announced the news in a note shared on Instagram Wednesday, which was signed by Rumer, the actor’s other daughters Scout Willis, Tallulah Willis, Mabel Willis, and Evelyn Willis, as well as his current wife Emma Heming Willis, and his ex-wife Demi Moore.

“To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities,” read the caption, which was shared alongside an image of a young Willis.

“As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.”

According to the Mayo Clinic, the brain condition impairs one’s communication skills and can affect one’s ability to speak, write, and understand language — both verbal and written.

The condition is generally caused by a head injury or stroke but can come on gradually from a brain tumor or another disease.

Willis instantly began to trend on social media following the news, as fans shared tributes and messages of disbelief:

The Detroit Lions made news Monday morning as they were announced as the next team to be featured on NFL’s docuseries Hard Knocks. That didn’t stop First Take from making jokes about the league’s longstanding dumpster fire though — particularly Domonique Foxworth who clowned fellow personality Dan Orlovsky over his former franchise.

The show hosts initially shared a laugh over head coach Dan Campbell’s introductory press conference with the Lions where he famously said “when you knock us down, we’re going to get up and when we get up, we’re going bit a kneecap off.”

“He’s my guy,” the former Lions quarterback said about Campbell, “Not a coach in the NFL I’m rooting more for than Dan Campbell.

The reason behind this is that Orlovsky and Campbell were once teammates in Detroit back in the day, a component held highly by both.

“I played with Dan in Detroit,” Orlovsky said. “I’ve watched him play games with like Robo-Cop type arm braces on because his body is so beat up. I think he’s the perfect coach for that city.”

The conversation then shifted to the Lions’ current starting QB, Jared Goff, who has appeared on Hard Knocks before in 2016 and 2020 with the Los Angeles Rams. Goff can be remembered for having a few notable moments in the docuseries, especially when it came to his school education as the hosts pointed out.

Jared Goff was on Hard Knocks before right and didn’t we learn that he didn’t learn very much at school,” Foxworth noted.

“He didn’t know the sun rose in the east instead of the west,” Orlovsky replied while making a sun rising motion with his hand, setting off the entire panel into hysterics.

Moderator Molly Qerim then reeled the hosts back in and asked Foxworth what he thought of the Lions’ inclusion in Hard Knocks.

“Seems fun,” Foxworth replied, “Between Jared Goff learning about basic facts about the world and science will be great and Dan Campbell, his speeches, his pre-practice speeches I feel like will have game day intensity. I’m looking forward to this.

Foxworth then turned his attention to the Lions as a whole, indicating they won’t make the playoffs this season, to which Orlovsky wasn’t too thrilled about.

“There may not be much Lions football to watch in December or January,” he said.

“C’mon, man, it’s unnecessary,” Orlovsky replied.

“I’m just saying,” Foxworth followed up.

“Just because Stephen A. (Smith) isn’t here doesn’t mean you have to take a shot at Detroit,” Orlovsky added.

“I’m not, it’s beautiful,” Foxworth said. “I was just there. My cousin lives there, it’s a fun place to be, in the summertime. But they will not be in the playoffs, is that crazy to say?”

Foxworth finished off the segment by saying the highlight of the Lions’ 2022 season will be the preseason.

“The exciting part of their season, is going to be the preseason. It’s going to be Hard Knocks, watching them bite kneecaps and whatnot, and Jared Goff learn about the position of the moon. You think he knows anything about the moon, does he even know what it is?”

Former White House National Security Adviser Michael Flynn got on the conspiracy theory wagon again by claiming there’s a plot to bring about the “New World Order” by planting tracking devices beneath peoples’ skin.

Flynn spoke to Clay Clark of The X22 Report as he claimed World Economic Forum Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab, Microsoft Founder Bill Gates, and right-wing bogeyman George Soros are in on the insidious, supposed scheme.

“These are all people that are part of this conspiracy, really…Not just to understand what’s happening outside of our skin, but to get under our skin,” Flynn claimed. “These are very real and very — actually — they’re very dangerous people. These are people that see a global world order.”

Flynn claimed that those involved in the conspiracy are preparing to launch a “fourth industrial revolution that Klaus Schwab describes it as.” Flynn was referring to Klaus’ book wherein he discussed how technological advancement will lead to a social impact as tech changes how the world works.

These are real people, these are real things. They have an intent to have a New World Order. They have an intent to track every single one of us, and they use it under the skin. They use a means by which its under the skin.

Flynn has pushed conspiracy theories and alarming rhetoric numerous times since leaving the White House, even as his former ally, right-wing attorney Lin Wood, revealed audio suggesting Flynn never truly believed in QAnon despite parroting their conspiracy theories.

A political candidate from South Carolina claims former President Donald Trump made a hole-in-one during a round of golf Saturday in Florida.

According to a tweet from Tim Swain, a Palmetto State Republican who recently abandoned a primary challenge to Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), the former president made an ace during his round on Saturday.

The photo appears to show the 7th hole of Trump’s course in West Palm Beach, which was corroborated by a Daily Mail reporter.

Also pictured, along with Trump and Swain, is golf hall-of-famer Ernie Els — a four-time major champion. Els, like everyone in the photo except Trump, put up one finger, seeming to indicate that a hole-in-one was made. Trump, for his part, was holding up the golf ball.

Trump has a longtime reputation as a cheater on the links. In a 2019 book, veteran sports writer Rick Reilly reported that the former president regularly kicked his ball out of the rough, took gimmes from unfathomably long distances, and even rushed to switch balls when his playing competitors were in a better position than he was.

He also, however, has previously made a verified hole-in-one. In 1993, at the 12th hole of the famed Pebble Beach Golf links, Trump made an ace which was witnessed by hundreds of people in person.

Liberal talk show host Thom Hartmann tore into some Republicans over their “disgusting” behavior at confirmation hearings for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackon, which he called “racist grandstanding.”

Judge Jackson’s confirmation hearings played out over several days this week with a string of Republican senators attacking the nominee to the point of badgering.

Raphael Warnock, a Democrat from Georgia who’s also Black, he said, you know, I don’t, I do think it’s a legitimate question to ask if these, and he’s speaking of these Republican senators, would be asking these questions if she wasn’t a Black woman, basically asking her to defend the 1619 Project. She has nothing to do with that! Oh, but it has a Black woman who put it together. Don’t you know?

If she defends critical race theory? Critical race theory has? You know, it’s it’s not even taught in our schools. And yet Marsha Blackburn kept saying, Oh, we’re, and Ted Cruz, oh, critical race theory in kindergarten.

This is all just grandstanding. And, I might add, racist grandstanding by white Republican senators. Talking about parental rights, talking about mask mandates, talking about transgender women in sports, everything they could do to try to just smear her and get that little 60-second sound bite. And it’s frankly pathetic. It’s a terrible reflection on today’s Republican Party. It validates the point that I’ve made on this program over and over and over again that that the Republican Party has been captured. Not that there wasn’t ever a shortage of racists and misogynists in it, but it has been captured basically, particularly since the Trump era, by new fascists who ground there their love and hope for an authoritarian dictatorship in the United States in their belief that white people are the superior race and therefore should run everything, and that men are superior to women and therefore women should always be subordinate to them and do whatever they say. In a stunning speech on Saturday President Joe Biden essentially called for regime change in Russia when he said that Vladimir Putin “cannot remain in power,” a comment that has prompted enormous reaction, including on cable news.

On Fox News, Eric Shawn spoke with Fox contributor Rebecca Grant about that moment in Biden’s speech.

“Do you think in that speech that the president was calling for regime change, basically signaling the Russians and the oligarchs to push Putin out?” Shawn asked.

“That was a stunning remark by Biden,” said Grant. “I think that’s unprecedented in U.S-Russian diplomatic history. That puts U.S.-Russo relations in the deep freeze. It was a huge and stunning revelation.”

“Absolutely. He did call for regime change. Let’s see if the State Department or White House tries to walk that back later or not,” Grant added.

Shawn then asked about how such a thing might happen, pointing out that Putin is paranoid even about covid.

“In terms of potential regime change,” said Shawn, “How does he get overthrown? Does he get overthrown?”

“Does he get assassinated? Does he got pushed out? Does he get under house arrest?” he asked. “How does that end?”

“We’d all like to see no more of Putin, but I think it’s very unrealistic at this point,” answered Grrant. “Biden, I also feel, was unrealistic in his direct appeal to the Russian people. I don’t think that’s the most positive line of diplomacy.”

Grant said the best option for President Biden is to increase support for Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy, “who is leading the fight.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) called on Rep. Jeff Fortenberry (R-NE) to resign on Friday, following the congressman’s three felony convictions related to a campaign contributions case.

Fortenberry was found guilty on Thursday of “concealing information and making false statements to federal authorities” related to illegal campaign donations he received in 2016, reported CNN.

“After learning of illegal contributions to his campaign, the congressman repeatedly chose to conceal the violations of federal law to protect his job, his reputation and his close associates,” U.S. Attorney Tracy L. Wilkison said in a statement after the verdict. “The lies in this case threatened the integrity of the American electoral system and were designed to prevent investigators from learning the true source of campaign funds.”

On Friday, McCarthy told CNN’s Melanie Zanona, “When someone’s convicted it’s time to resign.”

He adds that if Fortenberry wants to appeal, can do it that as a private citizen.

Zanona reported that McCarthy added if Fortenberry wanted to appeal, he could do that “as a private citizen.”

McCarthy’s call for a member of his conference to resign is a rare rebuke from the Republican leader who has stood by some of his most controversial members.

Fortenberry has represented Nebraskas’s 1st Congressional district since 2005 and won reelection in 2020 with nearly 60 percent of the vote. While the district is 65 percent urban and includes the state capitol of Lincoln, the Cook Partisan Voting Index ranks the district as a safe +11 Republican-leaning seat.

President Joe Biden snapped at CBS News reporter Christina Ruffini on Thursday over a question about the United States not deterring Russian President Vladimir Putin from invading Ukraine.

Ruffini was the last reporter to get called on at a press conference at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, after Biden called an end to the presser then came back for one more question somewhat testily.

Biden earlier met with leaders of fellow NATO countries, and Ruffini asked what he thinks could deter Putin from his present course, considering the United States has yet to do so.

“Sir, deterrents did not work,” she said. “What makes you think Vladimir Putin will alter course based on the action you’ve taken today?”

Biden responded:

Let’s get something straight. You remember, if you covered me from the very beginning, I did not say in fact the sanctions would deter him. Sanctions never deter. You keep talking about that. Sanctions never deter.

The maintenance of sanctions, the maintenance of sanctions, the increasing the pain and the demonstration why I asked for this NATO meeting today is to be sure that after a month we will sustain what we’re doing, not just next month, the following month, but for the remainder of this entire year. That’s what will stop him.

“Do you believe the actions today will have an impact on Russia changing course in Ukraine,” asked Ruffini.

Biden snapped and said, “That’s not what I said. You’re playing a game with me … The answer’s no.”

The president went on to say:

The single most important thing is for us to stay unified and the world continue to focus on what a brute this guy is and all the innocent people’s lives are being lost and ruined and what’s going on. That’s the important thing. But look, if you’re Putin and think that Europe is going to crack in a month or six weeks or two months, why not – they can take anything for another month. But we have to demonstrate. The reason I asked for the meeting. We have to stay fully, totally, thoroughly united.

Miley Cyrus’ plane was forced to make an emergency landing after it was struck by lightning while en route to Asunción, Paraguay.

Cyrus shared video of the moment her plane was struck on Instagram, confirming that she and everyone traveling with her are safe after the plane made an emergency landing.

“To my fans and everyone worried after hearing about my flight to Asunción. Our plane was caught in a major unexpected storm and struck by lighting. My crew, band, friends and family who were all traveling with me are safe after an emergency landing,” she wrote. “We were unfortunately unable to fly into Paraguay. I LOVE YOU.”

Cyrus shared that because she was unable to fly to Paraguay, she could no longer headline day two of the Asunciónico festival, held in the nation’s capital.

Following Cyrus’ post, Asunciónico organizers announced on that the festival would be canceled altogether due to extreme weather conditions:
