During a conversation with Comedy Central’s Trevor Noah, former New Jersey governor and 2016 Republican presidential hopeful Chris Christie did not rule out the possibility that he might run for president again, at least some day.
When asked directly by Noah if he would consider another bid for the Oval Office, Christie said this: “You never say never.”
Noah next asked him if he would consider running against Donald Trump.
Christie said he would not.
“In 2020? No, in a primary in 2020, probably not,” he said.
Then when asked if any Republican could beat Trump in 2020, Christie said no, or at least how it looks “right now.”
“Not now,” Christie told Noah, before adding this caveat: “Politics is a dynamic thing and you never know. But based on what you see right now, no.”
Christie then stressed that it is hard to beat an incumbent president in a primary and Trump is “still highly popular” among GOP voters.
The former New Jersey governor entered a crowded primary field in 2016 but dropped out of the race after failing to garner support in the New Hampshire primary.

Don Lemon Rips Trump’s Light Schedule: He’s Got a ‘Whole Lot of Executive Time’ These Days
CNN’s Don Lemon thinks President Donald Trump may have way too much time on his hands these days.
Speaking on his show Wednesday night, Lemon noted that it has been five days since Trump has made a public appearance.
He then asked, “What is he doing?”
“What is he doing? What is he doing? Think about it. Looks like he’s having a whole lot of executive time behind closed doors in the White House,” Lemon said, before naming the things that have been on Trump’s schedule in recent days, such as lunch with Vice President Mike Pence and attendance at a fundraiser at the Trump International Hotel, which was closed to the press.
“It makes you wonder what is the president of the United States doing with all that time?” he said.
Lemon acknowledged that while there is no way to officially find out what the president is up to, Twitter is a clue and Trump has been tweeting “from early morning until late night.”
He then played a clip from the 2016 campaign of Trump vowing to work really hard if he becomes president.
The CNN host then wondered out loud, “Is this president working hard or hardly working?”

WATCH: High School Golfer With Down Syndrome Goes Viral After Making Par on Iconic PGA Hole
The 16th at the TPC Scottsdale Stadium Course has become one of the most iconic holes in all of golf. On Wednesday, the hole was conquered by a remarkable high school Special Olympian in an undeniably wonderful moment.
Amy Bockerstette, a high school student from Arizona who has Down Syndrome, was invited by PGA Tour pro Gary Woodland to tee it up on the famous par-3.
Bockerstette hit her tee ball solidly, all the way to the greenside bunker on the 120 yard hole. The shot drew cheers from the several thousand fans on hand. (The 16th is best known for having the most raucous crowd in all of golf).
“They love me!” Bockerstette told Woodland, who laughed.
Her second shot out of the sand was excellent. She easily cleared the lip and the ball splashed on the green — coming to rest 10 feet from the cup.
“That is awesome!” Woodland said — giving Bockerstette a high-five.
But the Special Olympian wanted the par.
“I got this,” she said confidently.
She strode up to the ball, lined up the putt, and sank it. The crowd went wild. And Woodland gave Bockerstette a hug.
“You are so awesome!” Woodland said to the smiling high schooler. His statement is impossible to argue.

Chris Christie: ‘What the Hell Was Somebody Like Omarosa Ever Doing in the White House?’
Chris Christie is, evidently, not a fan of Omarosa Manigault-Newman‘s.
Appearing on Cuomo Prime Time Wednesday night in the latest leg of his whirlwind media tour, the former New Jersey governor cited Omarosa as one of several people in President Donald Trump‘s West Wing who shouldn’t have been there.
“I believe in the old adage, garbage in, garbage out,” Christie said. “And in the beginning, [Trump] had a group of people around him like Steve Bannon, like Rick Dearborn, like Omarosa. I mean, what the hell was somebody like Omarosa ever doing in the White House?”
“Only the best,” said host Chris Cuomo.
Christie went on to say that the reason the president did not have the best people working for him was because of a power play on the part of Jared Kushner and Steve Bannon.
“Jared Kushner, Rick Dearborn, and Steve Bannon decided that it was more important for them to have control than it was for the president to get a well-prepared transition,” Christie said.
“Who among them has ever done anything impressive in governmental life?” Cuomo asked.
“None of them,” Christie replied. “And that’s what I said to the president-elect at the time. And I think that’s one of the reasons they got rid of me, was because they didn’t want to have somebody who had been an executive in government, who was an executive in government at that time. Who had run two transitions of his own. Who could call BS on a lot of the stuff, and the people they were suggesting.”

Tucker Carlson Debate With Pro-Choice Advocate Goes Off the Rails: You Want to Go Back to ‘Coat Hanger’ Abortions
A Fox News discussion about abortion with Tucker Carlson and pro-choice advocate Monica Klein went off the rails on Wednesday.
The conversation was sparked by comments from Gov. Ralph Northam (D-VA) regarding the permissiveness of late-term abortions.
The proposed bill talked about by Northam, which allows late-term abortions if the mother’s health is at risk, is similar to one already on the books in New York.
Klein started by saying Carlson wanted to go back to a time when women used “coat hangers” to induce an abortion.
“Don’t give me that,” Carlson said.
“I think that right now, reproductive healthcare is under attack by the Republican Party. Seventy-two percent of Americans support right to choose,” Klein said. “We have [President Donald] Trump and sexual predator [Supreme Court Justice Brett] Kavanaugh trying to repeal Roe v. Wade and trying to take away control over our bodies. This isn’t about babies. This is about you attempting to control women’s bodies.”
Carlson replied by telling her not to be a “robot” and stressed he really wanted to know about what the Virginia governor said today.
Then when Klein said it was about a woman’s right to choose, Carlson said: “Wow. Do you think that you’re making a case that most people agree with? That it’s okay to abort a child in the third trimester.”
“You can keep trying to put words in my mouth and keep trying to say that the Democratic Party is hurting children,” Klein then said, as the heated debate raged on. “Your party is the one tearing families apart at the border and allowing children to die in federal custody. Whose party is harming children?”
Carlson asked if she was going to keep throwing talking points at him.
She then said this: “As a man what you’re focused is on controlling women’s body.”
Carlson concluded with, “I think less of you after [this conversation], I have to say.”
“I already think less of you,” Klein shot back. “So don’t worry.”

Ex-CIA Chief Brennan Slams Trump Over Spat With Intel Leaders: Kim Jong Un Played Him ‘Like a Fiddle’
Former CIA Director John Brennan went on a tear today in response to President Donald Trump publicly trashing his own intel leaders.
The Intelligence people seem to be extremely passive and naive when it comes to the dangers of Iran. They are wrong! When I became President Iran was making trouble all over the Middle East, and beyond. Since ending the terrible Iran Nuclear Deal, they are MUCH different, but….
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 30, 2019
….a source of potential danger and conflict. They are testing Rockets (last week) and more, and are coming very close to the edge. There economy is now crashing, which is the only thing holding them back. Be careful of Iran. Perhaps Intelligence should go back to school!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 30, 2019
Your refusal to accept the unanimous assessment of U.S. Intelligence on Iran, No. Korea, ISIS, Russia, & so much more shows the extent of your intellectual bankruptcy. All Americans, especially members of Congress, need to understand the danger you pose to our national security. https://t.co/9iV3BTKiEv
— John O. Brennan (@JohnBrennan) January 30, 2019
The former CIA director spoke with Chris Matthews tonight and said, “It is very dispiriting to members of the intelligence community who work day and night to keep this country safe. So his public disparagement of their leaders, I think, did not go down well. I would say that Donald Trump should be ashamed of himself, but I know he knows no shame.”
Brennan went on to talk about the problem this creates for America globally when the president is at odds like this with the intel community.
On North Korea specifically, he said Trump doesn’t understand the complexities there and added, “Kim Jong Un has demonstrated just how easy it is to play Donald Trump like a fiddle, which is what he has done, and there’s going to be another summit, and I think he has been duped by Kim Jong Un.”
At one point Matthews asked about Fox Business’ Lou Dobbs ripping DNI Dan Coats for contradicting Trump. Dobbs said there’s something “rancidly wrong” with these intel leaders.
Brennan responded, “There’s something rancidly wrong with the obsequiousness shown by people like Lou Dobbs and others, who are allowing Donald Trump to get away with this.”

Alleged Russian Troll Farm Attorneys Could Be Sanctioned Over ‘Altered’ Discovery Debacle
Pro-Russian Twitter Account Used Non-Public Info from Mueller Team to Launch Disinformation Campaign
On Wednesday, a new filing by the Department of Justice revealed that a pro-Russian Twitter account based in Russia gained access to and altered non-public information from a criminal probe in order to launch a disinformation campaign targeting Robert Mueller‘s investigation.
“Certain non-sensitive discovery materials in the defense’s possession appear to have been altered and disseminated as part of a disinformation campaign aimed (apparently) at discrediting ongoing investigations into Russian interference in the U.S. political system,” Department of Justice prosecutors wrote in the filing.
According to CNN, the information — which while sensitive, was not classified — was posted in October on the Russian Twitter account.
In late October, the account @HackingRedstone posted on Twitter a webpage with documents from the criminal case against Concord Management and Consulting. The computer that had published the documents was in Russia, the FBI found. Some of the documents contained numbers and labels that the Justice Department had used to organize the evidence electronically.
It also appears that the information altered for use in the disinformation campaign was not obtained due to a hack. Instead, it appears someone with access to the information provided it to whoever posted it to the Twitter account. The account is is based out of Russia.
“Concord’s request to send the sensitive discovery to the Russian Federation unreasonably risks the national security interests of the United States,” the prosecutors wrote in the filing.
A total of 13 Russians were also indicted along with Concord in the case, and as As CNN’s Shimon Prokupecz also flagged in a tweet, the sensitive information involves “identifies uncharged individuals and entities that the government believes are continuing to engage in operations that interfere with lawful U.S. government functions like those activities charged in the indictment.”
A key line in this new Mueller filing, “the sensitive discovery identifies uncharged individuals and entities that the government believes are continuing to engage in operations that interfere with lawful U.S. government functions like those activities charged in the indictment”
— Shimon Prokupecz (@ShimonPro) January 30, 2019
The filing was part of the Department of Justice’s court fight to prevent Concord from sharing discovery information with those in the Russian Federation.
Concord has argued the information sharing is needed to defend themselves in the case.

Sarah Sanders Rips the White House Press Corps: When I Get on That Podium, I See a Lot of ‘Angry Faces’
Sarah Huckabee Sanders considers many in the White House press corps to be “angry” reporters who are trying to trap her.
In an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network, the press secretary was asked what she sees when she takes the briefing podium.
“This isn’t everybody, and I don’t want to generalize the crowd. But you see a lot of angry faces,” Sanders said. “People that their sole purpose is to find this gotcha moment, to catch you. Their job is not to get information — which is what the briefing is supposed to be. It’s to trip you up. And I think if the briefing loses purpose, and it isn’t a good resource for the American people to get information and answers to real questions, then you do have to wonder if that’s the best form in order to put a message out.”
Sanders, as a result, has briefed far less frequently of late — with one per month becoming the norm, as opposed to the daily sessions of previous administrations. The press secretary, however, did brief this past Monday. But CNN and MSNBC did not carry it live. In her interview with CBN, Sanders hit the two cable networks for snubbing the briefing.
“We had a briefing this week, and they complained and complained and complained that we don’t have them,” Sanders said. “Then we have one, and CNN and MSNBC didn’t even cover it. So, I think that the biggest thing is that they just want to complain and attack this administration and this President. And they don’t want to cover all of the successes because that’s not good for the narrative that they’re trying to drive.”
CNN and MSNBC have carried nearly every briefing of Donald Trump‘s presidency. However, the major cable networks seldom carried press briefings live during previous administrations.

Lindsey Graham Sends Letter to FBI Head Questioning Tactics of Roger Stone Arrest, Asks if CNN Was Tipped Off
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, sent FBI Director Christopher Wray a letter with questions about the arrest of Roger Stone.
“While I firmly support law enforcement taking into action threats to officer safety, flight risk, and the need to ensure evidence is preserved,” he wrote, “I am leery that a subject of the Special Counsel’s investigation, who had retained counsel, had publicly stated that he believed that he would at some point be indicted, and was apparently willing to surrender voluntarily, was arrested in a pre-dawn raid at his home.”
He has a number of questions about the tactics of the raid, which he also tweeted out:
Today I wrote to the FBI about the arrest of Roger Stone.
My questions include:
1) Why was it necessary to arrest Mr. Stone at his home in the early morning hours, rather than working through his attorneys to permit him to surrender voluntarily?
— Lindsey Graham (@LindseyGrahamSC) January 30, 2019
2) Was the manner of Mr. Stone's arrest consistent with the arrests of, and procedures for the arrests of, similarly charged individuals?
— Lindsey Graham (@LindseyGrahamSC) January 30, 2019
3) Were usual procedures for obtaining and executing arrest and search warrants followed with regard to Mr. Stone?
— Lindsey Graham (@LindseyGrahamSC) January 30, 2019
4) Did the Special Counsel's office issue a press release and release the indictment to the press prior to informing Mr. Stone’s attorneys of the arrest?
— Lindsey Graham (@LindseyGrahamSC) January 30, 2019
5) Did anyone at the FBI, DOJ, or the Special Counsel's office alert CNN, any other media outlet, or anyone outside of law enforcement that the arrest was going to occur on the morning of January 25, 2019?
— Lindsey Graham (@LindseyGrahamSC) January 30, 2019
The question about CNN is in response to the network capturing exclusive footage of the arrest, which led many to wonder how CNN got the footage in the first place and whether they were tipped off.
When President Donald Trump himself asked “who alerted CNN to be there?”, CNN responded in a statement saying, “CNN’s ability to capture the arrest of Roger Stone was the result of determined reporting and interpreting clues revealed in the course of events. That’s called journalism.”

MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace to Schultz Advisor Steve Schmidt: ‘People Are Terrified’ You’re Going to Help Trump
Former partners-in-crime Nicolle Wallace and Steve Schmidt (who once teamed up in an effort to elect Sarah Palin vice president) went at it Wednesday afternoon over Schmidt’s decision to support the candidacy of Starbucks founder Howard Schultz, which resulted in a furious Wallace telling Schmidt that “people are terrified” he’ll help re-elect Donald Trump.
As part of a contentious debate on MSNBC’s Deadline: White House, Wallace asked Schmidt “Why can’t someone like Schultz go in and try to win inside a Democratic primary and change the party to be more centrist?”
Schmidt countered by noting that “when we look at the American constitution, there is no mention of political parties,” and that George Washington warned about political parties in his farewell address.
“Listen, you can out-history me asleep better than I can awake,” Wallace said, “but my point is, we have never — it is a — people are terrified, and people are terrified that you, one of the most visible Trump critics, are now behind someone they feel like can take away the Democrats’ best chance of toppling Donald Trump.”
“Nobody is voting. The election is two years away,” Schmidt replied.
“We’re already scared!” Wallace exclaimed.
The Schmidt run, if nothing else, has proven the reverse of the old adage, and has managed to unmake several sets of political bedfellows. It was all fun and games when Wallace and Schmidt were taking turns verbally flogging Trump like Orcas dining on a harp seal, but not so much now that Schmidt is trying to find a “centrist” path between treating immigrants “like slaves at auction” and not doing that.
And former Obama deputy press secretary Bill Burton has seen his goodwill with Democratic supporters dry up like Sen. Marco Rubio‘s (R-FL) throat over his decision to advise Schultz.
Maybe Wallace is worried over nothing. If Schultz’s candidacy is anything like his coffee shops, people will just end up writing in Harold Skullz and dropping a mean deuce in the voting booth.

Howard Schultz Adviser Steve Schmidt: He’s Not ‘Intimidated by the Twitter Mob’
It’s no secret that former Republican strategist Steve Schmidt is a massive critic of President Donald Trump‘s, but now he’s serving as an adviser to someone people are worried could help him win reelection.
Schmidt is advising former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz, and he told MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace, “When you think about Howard Schultz and you look at the last week, at long last there might be someone in America’s political life who isn’t intimidated by the Twitter mob, and I think that’s a good thing.”
Wallace said it’s “more than the Twitter mob” and noted the criticism that Schultz could be a spoiler that helps the president.
Schmidt defended Schultz and said, “He’s not Jill Stein, he’s not Ross Perot, he’s not Ralph Nader. What he said is he wants to have a conversation with the American people to see if perhaps the hour of disruption may be at hand for our utterly broken political system.”

Even Republicans Overwhelmingly Oppose Using Government Shutdown As Political Leverage
Donald Trump got more bad polling news this week, including one result that could make him think twice about his threat to shut down the government again: even Republicans oppose using government shutdowns as political leverage, and by a wide margin.
One of the attention-grabbing items in the latest Quinnipiac University poll is the fact that voters now trust Democrats more than Trump on the issue of border security, an issue on which Republicans usually enjoy the advantage.
The rest of the poll echoes the bad news that Trump has been receiving lately on things like the border wall, his approval since the beginning of the shutdown, and his share of the blame for the Trump shutdown.
Most of those results break down along party lines, with responses from independents leaning heavily toward the Democratic side, and Republicans near-unanimously siding with Trump. But there were a few notable exceptions.
The poll asked “In general, do you think it is appropriate for government shut downs to be used as leverage in policy disagreements, or do you think it is inappropriate?”
Americans opposed using shutdowns as political leverage by a crushing 79-16 percent margin. But unlike many of the other questions, Republicans agreed that using shutdowns as political leverage is inappropriate by a 59-30 margin.
The other result that showed significant, if not overwhelming, defection from the Trump position was his ban on transgender people serving in the military.
While Americans on the whole support allowing trans people to serve by a margin of 70-22, 40 percent of Republicans support it, versus 50 percent who oppose. That’s a huge swing since the last time Quinnipiac polled the question, and Republicans opposed allowing trans people to serve by 60-32.
Trump has thus far not been swayed by the deadly poll numbers he’s racking up with all Americans, even independents. But when such large chunks of your own voters are sending messages like this, it might be time to listen.

Mueller’s Smackdown of Accused Russian Troll Farm Is Chock Full of Holy Sh*t Moments
CNN’s David Gregory Knocks Jared Kushner’s ‘Pity Party for His Father’: Chris Christie is Right
Former New Jersey governor and US attorney Chris Christie prosecuted Charles Kushner, Jared Kushner‘s father, and he recently trashed the elder Kushner when talking about his run-ins with the President’s son-in-law. He said, “I mean, if a guy hires a prostitute to seduce his brother-in-law and videotapes it, and then sends the videotape to his sister, to attempt to intimidate her from testifying before a grand jury, do I really need any more justification than that? I mean, it’s one of the most loathsome, disgusting crimes that I prosecuted when I was U.S. attorney!”
On CNN this afternoon, Brianna Keilar discussed Christie’s comments and his beef with the younger Kushner while they were both still in Trumpworld.
“Look, it’s his father, he loves him, obviously he’s gonna have a reaction to what happened to him. But let’s just put that aside for a second and be more dispassionate about it,” David Gregory said.
He continued to say that Charles Kushner pled guilty because had it gone to trial, “it could have been worse for him.”
“So this, like, pity party for his father––sorry,’ Gregory said. “I mean, he was the US attorney, he’s damn right, he ought to stand up and say why he pursued that.”

Al Roker Goes OFF on ‘Nitwit Governor’ Matt Bevin Saying It’s ‘Soft’ to Close Schools For Cold
Despite temperatures in the single digits across much of Kentucky, the state’s governor, Matt Bevin (R) was not pleased that many counties in the commonwealth opted to close school on Wednesday.
“There’s no ice going with it or any snow,” Bevin told WHAS radio in comments he labeled as “slightly facetious.” The governor added, “What happens to America? We’re getting soft…we’re getting soft.”

Newly-elected Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has lately attracted an unlikely group of fans during her rise to power in Washington: the populist right, as well as none other than President Donald Trump‘s former advisor Steve Bannon, according to a recent Politico interview.
That’s right, Bannon is among the group of right-wing public figures who have showered praise on the politically far-left congresswoman recently, dubbing her as a rising star in the Democratic Party.
“AOC has what I call ‘gameness’ or competitive heart — the combination of grit, determination, fighting spirit that you can’t coach,” Bannon told Politico. “You either have it or you don’t, and she has it big league.”
Bannon said despite the vast differences between Ocasio-Cortez’ policies and that of the right, the 29-year-old Democratic socialist can still cooperate with the populist right on a number of issues, including a stronger approach to dealing with China and stronger regulations on big tech.
Even Bannon’s former boss, Trump, doesn’t seem to mind Ocasio-Cortez calling him a racist, when he was asked about it earlier this month: “Who cares?”
Others on the populist right have similarly expressed positive sentiments about the freshman congresswoman, including pundits like Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham, Scott Adams, and Mike Cernovich, who has referred to Ocasio-Cortez as the Democratic Party’s “it-girl.”
“I aspire to be the conservative AOC,” said Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz (FL) in a Politico interview, half-jokingly lamenting, “I can’t dance for shit.”
