Late Show Cold Open Lampoons Millennial Avocado Panic with Mad Max Parody

If you haven’t heard about the impending avocado apocalypse if the border is closed then you don’t follow many millennials on social media. And for that I envy you. But if you do, and you have, then you’ll get the joke in tonight’s Late Show cold open.

Because no avocados is the actual end of the world, you see.

As is often the case with the cold open, it begins with the fake news “Late Show News Network” premise, using audio/video from an actual news clip overlaid with Late Show graphics to set the premise: Mad Guac.

The parody features actual footage from Mad Max, dubbed over for the avacodalypse. Good premise, some of the jokes were thin, but you can never bash millennials too often or too harshly, so it had that going for it. It ended with the shot of Mel Gibson, pretty good dubbing, and the movie title punchline “Mad Guac: The Avocado Warrior.”

Pretty amusing premise, not least because it almost matches the actual tone of some of the worried millennials.
