Kareem Hunt says that he was “in the wrong” when he kicked and shoved a woman.
The admission came during an interview with ESPN’s Lisa Salters.
“It was just a long night,” Hunt said. “To be exact, it don’t really matter what happened. I was in the wrong. I could have took responsibility and made the right decision to find a way to de-escalate the situation.”
He also said that if he saw the woman in the video again he would say “I am sorry for my actions that night.”
On Friday, TMZ published video of Hunt showing the football player shoving and kicking a woman during an altercation in February in Cleveland.
After the video was released, the Chiefs decided to release Hunt, citing the fact he wasn’t completely honest with them.
Hunt has since acknowledged he misled the Chiefs about the assault.
“The Chiefs did what was right,” Hunt told ESPN.
The NFL said in a statement on Sunday that the investigation into the matter was “ongoing.”
“The NFL’s ongoing investigation will include further attempts to speak to the complainants involved in the incident,” the statement read. “It will include a review of the new information that was made public on Friday – which was not available to the NFL previously – as well as further conversations with all parties involved in the incident.”
