On Friday night, Alec Baldwin took to Twitter to claim that reports that he punched a guy over a parking spot in New York City are decidedly false.
“Normally, I would not comment on something as egregiously misstated as today’s story. However, the assertion that I punched anyone over a parking spot is false,” Baldwin tweeted on Friday evening in a two-part tweet.
He continued on: “I wanted to go on the record stating as much. I realize that it has become a sport to tag people with as many negative charges and defaming allegations as possible for the purposes of clickbait entertainment.”
Then in the second tweet, Baldwin doubled down, adding, “Fortunately, no matter how reverberating the echos, it doesn’t make the statements true.”

Earlier today, reports emerged that Baldwin had been arrested in Manhattan.
He was released hours later after being given a desk appearance ticket. According to CNN, he was charged with assault and harassment. The alleged victim was taken to the hospital to be treated.

Baldwin is well-known for his Trump impersonation on Saturday Night Live. It is unclear if he will appear on Saturday’s show.
