The Harvey Weinstein saga has long dominated the news especially in wake of his recent arrest and grand jury indictment.
Yet, it seems actor and comedian Bill Murray missed the memo a bit.
Speaking to The Guardian for a recent interview, Murray was asked to comment on something Weinstein said a few years back claiming, “being a Murray-ite is a religion.”
Weinstein added that the so-called religion is “where you can behave as badly as you want to people, and they still love you.”
In response, Murray said he thought the comment was funny and noted it could be taken out of context.
Then, addressing what was going on with Weinstein right now, Murray said this, implying he doesn’t quite grasp what Weinstein’s been accused of yet:
“Are you asking for a comment about Harvey Weinstein? I mean, I don’t know exactly what he’s being accused of yet, but I know some of the people involved in that situation, one very sweet person, and it hurts to hear her speak about it.”
He did say, though, that he felt the pain and “the pain is not over.”
For the record, Weinstein was indicted in New York Wednesday on charges of rape in the first and third degrees and first-degree criminal sexual act for crimes involving two women.
He is currently out on bail.
